Doug and I have been there... i supported his butt for many (MANY) years with no return on my investment until AFTER he completed his goal of getting into a major...it takes longer now a days, the sacrifice seeming harder and longer but if you really like doing what your doing and you have a supportive woman/family/friends by your side then by god.. don't quit just because of the situation...work thru it and give her just rewards when you've gotten there!! ![]()

I just don't see myself ever being happy in the commuting 9-5 life that everyone in my town seems to live. There are a few other careers that interest me, but none as much as the one I'm in now. So mark me down as one pilot who is happy with his chosen career. It is testing at times, I will admit! Nights like tonight for instance. I'm in Quebec, Canada, about to start watching a hockey game on TV in my room... alone... dang it, I can't sit on my couch and have a few Molsons cheering on the team because of the 4:45am van time in the morning. Small sacrifices, I guess.

| Ding ding ding! I can't do cubicles. I too had other interests, but developed neck strain from looking skyward. |

This is gonna sound cheesy, but you want to know what my return on investment is? Just seeing her follow her dreams and be successful. It's certainly not easy for her, getting her butt kicked around by agents and publishers - she's had many a day where she wanted to give it up because it was too competitive and too hard... but she's stuck with it and is now just beginning to reap some rewards from her dedication. It would be great if she could one day support me as a famous writer while I diddled about the sky... but if not, oh well. She got to live her dream.

| Old Skool | This is Kris (the wife-half), stealing the keyboard while CDriver is out doing...something...I know not what. "Bye!" he said, and he was gone. Ah, the mystery. Just want to say, yeah, man. Yeah! But, really, not everyone gets the chance/opportunity to do what they really want to do, and for a myriad of reasons. But Ian was supportive and generous enough to at least allow me the time I needed to give it a pretty good shot. I hope, too, that I'm somehow able to make a real, actual adult living some day - SOON, preferably - so he can follow his dream. Nothing would make me happier. Love ya, Chinook Driver! signing off, over and out, roger, ten four, and all that. |

What is it that I say on these boards make you think I am useless?! Do ANY of my posts contain negativity about ANYONE or anything, like so many people on here do?! Mainly because I type in an unserious mannar or I diversify my posts by going a bit off aviation topic?! Your the type <edited> on these boards who say "Blah blah blah the aviation industry sucks, its over..... get out of it WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH...." and you eventually end up going back to it or into it, if you have something to say, say it in front of me and not behind your "stained" keyboard <edited>. Why are you so blunt in calling my useless?? what is it that I have said to you as others said my posts have already cleaned up for recent times and here you are being <euphemism for mean> to someone who has not even said anything derrogatory about anyone, I offered my advice and best wishes. It's people like you on these forums that confuse the stuff out of younger and new people getting into aviation and then when they say something a little weak or confusing you jump into their bones. So go enjoy your illegal pornography viewing next time you put down a young sincere aviation prospect, and get to know me in person before you judge.

| Big Chief's Woman | you have to admit tho, he is improving... i see improvement in the last few posts and just like BDJ, we should give him opportunity to rectify and continue to improve his everyday learning skillz! should we not? ![]() altho, Chris, you really should watch your language and start thinking more professionally when your typing as name calling is just very juvenile and unnecessary. Besides, you know we don't tolerate it. |

| Old Skool | Chris here is one of those "the more you know" post. Straight from the big mans mouth himself at the last Phoenix "meet & greet." "Max you changed the game on the website when you registered, but you also became somewhat of a character and less of a real person in the sight of many." What did he mean by that. Well I enjoy humor and I enjoy not being serious all the time and I enjoy having a good time. Both myself and my ex at the time were the first openly gay people on the site. More so him then I. He let EVERYONE know he was gay and proud. At that time everything that we said had a gay tie in or gag joke to it. It was funny to most offense to others. Everett loved attention and shined in the spotlight. But probably in hindsight it hurt his character reputation with some. After he left I kinda took over his spot but at an albeit lesser level. Everyone expected a witty gay joke or gay theme post and I didn't always disapoint. Then came the time where I didn't want to be only known as "that gay guy from Jetcareers" and wanted to have what I said on here be taken seriously. Well it wasn't and I was still the posterboy for gay avaition on the site. No one cared that I read alot and could tell them backwards and forwards the electrical system on a 727. Or explain in detail what a triple slotted fowler or kreuger flap was the because I was typecast as more of a gay "character", then a real aviation buff who only happened to be gay. The same can be said for you. Since you registered your name has been synomous with asinine post with little or no meaning and horrible grammar or the total lack there of,cursing and illogical rambings. Your exploits in Jetcareers AIM chat are known second to none. So when people think about you their first thoughts are to judge you by your past here on the site. It's wrong because there are so many more facets to a person then what little we show on this site but in our case one might say we did it to ourselves. If you remember your "6 inch" comments in AIM that warranted me picking up the phone and getting into your #### and telling you to grow the #### up and stop that ####. I told you that if you wanted to be respected by your peers more on the site called out less and taken more seriously you should lead by example. Learn to ignore the haters who egg you on and laugh at you when you explode in dramatic fashion. I have seen a dramatic change in you post UND and it is for the better I would think but understand that many still have the prior impression of you in the back of their mind. Prove them wrong by being yourself and not the JC class clown or village idiot that many think you are. Proof read your post, use correct grammar, sentence structure, post in the right forums and continue to add to the site content and both your reputation level and peoples opinions of you will change. One can't be an ass then demand respect they must earn it. |

| Old Skool | Mannn, noone mentioned the fact of giving up on a professional aviation career so you could make more money to splurge on your wife/mate. I sure did and don't regret anything at all ![]()

| Old Skool | Ahh..yes the typical JC thing for this to turn to a flame fest. I come on here and talk about a topic which is surrounding this industry very SERIOUSLY and to get feedback and input. Here, some words of advice, and i'm sounding like a moderator or whatever, i'm just trying to keep it on topic. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE DONT RANDOMELY GET YOUR VIEW OUT ABOUT THEM IN A POST/THREAD WHICH PERTAINS TO AN ACTUAL MATTER. LEAVE THAT STUFF TO PM'S AND ACTUAL MEETINGS IF IT SO CONCERNS YOU. Now, to hijack and clear up everything. I'm a jokester on here, and can sound all cocky online etc. However, once in person i'm a big sponge. Rarely ever spouting off about any knowledge i have. I like to admit usually the liking of aviation but wont get into what my V-speeds are or whats the electrical system like on a 727. I've even gotten the shy thing before. On the internet you can hid behind your screenname, but once in person it's a whole new game. Luckily, i dont like to burn bridges and am open to meet people as a person, and not judge from stupid online debating. I didnt particularly like John Herreshoff from just his posting on here (which was ignorant..didnt even know him). But i did meet him in person, and gave the chance of meeting him before making any judgements of a good person. Which always happens to be the best outcome. I foudn him very relax and a cool person. Now John, i personally know Chris and have known him for 3 years. He's a great guy. He is a very funny character and likes to keep people smiling. People, lets make it a rule before you post you AGREE and UNDERSTAND that POSTS dont make the person! Online and real life are 2 different worlds. I live in both, with different mentalities...Lets squash the beef here. We're all friends in the end of the day. Raise up your mugs (bottle of coke for me) and lets just keep it relaxed. If i want bickering i'll go to flightinfo.com Thanks! |

| Old Skool | Hey I'll give anybody a second chance. Send me an IM sometime Chris, I'm over in Burbank; we can get together and I can buy you a coke or something, as I don't think you're quite 21 yet. |

| Old Skool | Bigs what you fail to understand is that Herreshoff IS an asshat, you just didn't get enough time with him to come to fully understand him. Trust me, he's a true to life asshat! Call me sometime bro, we're gonna have to get a SoCal get together going on here in a few weeks once I'm outta training. |

| Old Skool | I get weekends off (kind of), so let me know what dates are good for you and we'll plan it out way ahead of time. I'd offer for you to crash at my place, but it looks like I'm just gonna have a small little studio and one futon. And...well...uhm...you're a boy, so you can't crash with me! |
