There is a communistic "revenue sharing" systems that is set in place, which takes MOSTLY Yankee money, and money from a few other franchises (maybe Boston) and puts it into a nice pot so that some other team be the next hot Yankee clone of the year (This years Detroit, by their OWN admission.), it's not Boss George's fault that alot of owners pocket the cash and put it into their teams. Imagine though, would United or American share their cash with, I don't know SONG? Hmmm.

Dude, I know. As I said, I can get over the Yankees failure in the ALDS. I just can't believe that I can't make a statement of belief in the team I love without someone having the unmitigated gall to poke fun at expenditures vs. lack of WS wins in the last few or more years in light of the situation at hand. No matter who wins the WS, you win/lose and go home. Mr. Lidle is NOT coming back, and he died doing something that he, heck, we ALL here at this forum love, FLYING. I guess it didn't matter to the heckling (though probably joking) poster that I nearly teared up at my job.

Pardon me sir...but I did not believe that I was BRAGGING. It's not in my nature to brag. Even If I "steered it" the way that you say, you could have been the bigger man right? All I believed I did was make a little gesture of faith in my team in light of this tragedy beyond not advancing to the World Series. Is there anything really wrong with that? I don't really see how that constitutes "bragging" per se. If I really wanted to brag, I could have said "All other teams suck except the Yankees, and that's why we'll eventually win it". But I did not. The only thing that I really hope now is that we both can respond to each other civily when it comes to the matters that come to this board, as CFI's, I think that we could both do that, even when not seeing eye to eye.

Nope, but when someone calls you out on it, you're going to have to deal with the consequences. That's one of the problems when you win 26 world series-es. People try to get at you

It was on the today show, taken a long way off. All you can see is a bright flash of light in the distance.

SR20 has 200hp engine, but speeds of a higher performance aircraft. Also, he had a CFI with him.

Not to nitpick, but hi-perf a/c = > 200hp. I did a BFR for a guy from Mexico not too long ago in his SR-20. Can't say I'm a big fan of the plane.

Wasn't this someone's avatar on here (see attached image)? He is listed as a former CFI for StangAir, owned by Tyler Stanger, CFI in the crash.

The website is offline now but can be accessed via the internet archieve:

That's a west coast flight school, what was the guy doing giving instruction to somebody in New York?

That's what I was wondering too. I think Cory got his private in FL - so it probably wouldn't be his primary instructor. I know people that purchase a Cirrus must go to CSIP instructors to qualify for insurance - so maybe this guy was a CSIP that Cory met thru a 3rd party? The plane reported still had the registration transfer pending (whatever that means) so to me it sounds like it was recently purchased.

Maybe he bought it from someone in CA, then had this CSIP meet him in NYC in time to fly where ever with it?

One of our local news stations interviewed someone from the flight school at Brackett that Cory trained at and the guy said that Cory asked the flight instructor to accompany him back to CA on this trip. The reporter didn't ask if yesterday's trip was the start of the x-country or not.

Updated...here's the link to another story about Tyler Stanger. The trip the two were on was to be a 3 day x-country:

I was always told that High Performance is > 200, hense the old Mooney 201.

FAR 61.31
(f)(2) of this section, no person may act as pilot in command of a high-performance airplane (an airplane with an engine of more than 200 horsepower), unless the person has--

Also, they reported the CFI was from CA.

A high performance used to be simply 200 HP, in 1997 the FAA changed it to read that the plane needed to have MORE THAN 200 HP, meaning 201 or greater.

The 201 has 200 HP.

Sorry, I was told that is why it was called to 201. Should of known not to comment on something from a Mooney owner!

http://www.risingup.com/planespecs/i...plane348.shtml

EDIT: Additionally, the 201 (really the M20J) is called the 201 becuase of it's ability to cruise at 201 MPH.
