Default Life After College

Supposedly college years are the "best years of your life." I certainly hope not. Did any of you all enjoy the after college world more? I'm about to graduate this spring and can't wait to just concentrate on flying and not have to do term paper after term paper. College was definitely great, but nothing close to the best years of my life I hope!

I just keep paying for my 250 hours over and over again so I can still defer my loans.

The best years of your life are whenever you want them to be.

Some people say "high school is the best years of your life". Good golly, if I'd believed that, with my high school experience I may as well have taken a Winchester to my cranium and ended it all right then and there.

Every stage in my life has been a worthwhile experience. I had a great time in college, but I had a blast during my time at Eagle too. My short 12 months with AA I woudn't trade for anything, even knowing how it would end.

If you're not having the time of your life, figure out why, and make whatever changes you need to MAKE it the time of your life!

I think PART of it is, looking back I rarely think of papers or staring at a white computer screen a few hours before a 7+ pg paper is due, works cited pages, waking up early etc...When I look back I think of the excitement of going out on my own into a new area, starting over fresh, women everywhere, parties all the time, cool roomates, sleepin in and not going to classes etc etc.

I felt the same way as you, and boy, what I would give to be back in school.

It's different for everyone. When I look back at HS and College I had some great times and made some great friends that I still have today. But you will find out that the best times of your life change over the years.

Colllege was the best until I got married and being married is still a blast and now the best time of my life was Birth of my daughter Emily. She is always cracking my wife and I up with something goofy.

Dude, I went to one of the top party schools in the country. I find myself talking about FSU all the time. I graduated last Aug, and I wish I was still there. I busted ass the last semester and half of school to get out and get my career started. I was itching to go, but now I always can't wait to head back. It also doesn't hurt to have a good (usually) football team to go back and watch. If you think your working years will be better than college, you didn't go to a good college or didn't live it up while you were there.

You know the scene in Billy Madison where the fat kid goes "boy billy, I want to grow up and go to hike school..." (yes he says hike)...then billy goes, "Don't you say that...don't you ever say that. You stay here! You stay just the way you are...FOR THE LOVE OF G-D!" That's how you should be looking at your last few precious months of youth. My .02

Nole and other recent grads probably remember having "the option" regarding classes...

Full Stop: Actually going.
Touch and Go: Sometimes going.
Stop and Go: Sometimes going, but the class required cramming and/or papers.
Low Approach: First class, exams, and final.

...or the Missed Approach: DROP!

One also can routinely utilize the option when it cacomes to alarm clocks.

Lol, Ive heard nothing but good things about the social life at FSU. Sometimes I wish I went to a big D-1 school, but I highly doubt my grades would have been the same. I visited a friend at the University of Kansas for a weekend and went to some of the best parties ive ever been to. They had more parties in one night then my school has an entire semester. Yes my school is very "condusive to learning" But overall Ive enjoyed my school experience except for papers. Ive just grown tired of them. They are not difficult just tedious and annoying to find sources, citations, and put them in APA format. I figured I'll just get all my term papers done and over with within the next 2 weeks and celebrate the rest of the semester. Next semester,my final semester, im taking only 2 classes for a total of 6 credit hours and no term papers in those classes

I agree with FlyingNole. I attended PSU, which is also one of the top party schools in the country, and graduated last August. I definitley did my fair share of partying, but was really looking forward to getting out at the end. I wish I stayed longer though! I have friends who are on the 7 year plan right now. I was definitely very sick of pulling all-nighters. Right after you graduate it's amazing, but you do start to miss being able to hang out with your friends who are right around the corner and going to all the parties. I am working in the career that I've wanted to have since I was in high school (working at an airline, but just in a different capacity then flying). I had to move across the country to PHX to do it, but I'm glad I did. Having flight benefits makes it very easy to head back to State College for the weekend and meet up with friends. So, it is really what you make of it. Make sure you're definitley going to do something that you enjoy, because that's what makes it or breaks it.

The best years of your life.......so many variables.....constantly changing overtime....

my 'college' years were in the Navy. 3 years stationed at Pearl Harbor, and the 1 yr on an a/c carrier with stops in; Yokosuka, Pusan, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali, Perth, Sydney, and back to Pearl Harbor. Best years of my life, TO THAT POINT.

Then graduted college, Great,

Then got married, Great.

Then had number 1 son, Great.

Then had number 2 son, Great......

Then started my ratings, Great......

What does it all mean?.....Different strokes for Different Folks. The best years of my life have been the past 37 (minus the diaper stage).
