| Hi everyone, I am thinking of changing careers from a chemist to a pilot and right now I am checking out flight schools. Does anyone know anything about Langa Air Academy? They guarantee a paying job with them for one year as a CFI and estimate that I would have over 1200 hours flight time by the end of their program (including the job). Do they have a good reputation? Has anyone heard of anyone else being screwed or misled by them? I'm concerned that the instructors may not be very good if they only have ~335 hours flight time (what each student earns by the end of first year). Any info that's not from Langa Air themselves would be a big help. Thanks! |

| Old Skool | I don't have any information on Langa. . .but, where are you from? All of the schools that advertise here at JC have upstanding reputations. Stay away from places such as Mesa Airline Pilot Development program, JetU, Comair Academy (or is it Delta Academy?), Gulfstream Airlines. |

| The average instructor has around 300-350 when they start instructing, assuming they start right after their commercial...which is a 250 hour minimum. The # of hours will never guarantee a better instructor...there are great lowtime and hightime instructors as well as not-so-great lowtime and hightime instructors!

| Old Skool | Are you sure you really want to become a professional pilot? ![]() Are you sure you still have fingerprints left? We had a chemist in one of my ground schools that had to get finger printed numerous times because the chemicals she worked with damaged her finger tips. I think the local FBI field office had to come in and get the prints because the local PD could get a clean set. |

| Agent Smith | Do you want a CFI who was guaranteed a job, no questions asked?

| Agent Smith | I can see someone saying "We're going to offer you an opportunity if you work hard, show up on time and interview well"

| Old Skool | So by definition, do these locations that "guarantee" employment. . . are those PFJ if the organizations pay for the CFII/MEI? But you as the customer paid for IFR, CPL, and ME, CFI? ![]() |
