| Newbie | In early December of this year, my high school is doing a "job shadowing" program, in which each student (i'm a junior) spends 1-2 days with someone in the workplace watching what they do, exploring the career, etc. I'd like to do something pilot-related, or at least aviation related. Anyone know of any ideas or opportunities, preferably in the northeast?

| I'm sure there are plenty of flight instructors that wouldn't mind. Hope you like hearing "right rudder" though ![]() |

| I participated in a similar program 2 years in a row, when I was Flight Instructing. I had two students that spent the entire week with me at the flight school. Anytime I was in a plane with more than 2 seats, they jumped in, plugged in, and rode along! They sat in on ground school sessions, FTD sessions, and lunch sessions! It really was cool for them, and I believe that they learned alot! Contact a flight school in your area, and ask around - they'd probably be willing!

Yeah, I'm sure if you offer to pay for lunch at least you could find someone who wouldn't mind taking you along. ![]()

Well, we are talking CFI's here - it doesn't take much! Offer to pay for something from the Wheel of Death, and you're in there!

| I train out of Hortman Aviation in Northeast Phila. You could take a ride up there andsee if they could help (they are very nice and probably would). They have a flight school and charter dept so at least you could see two different perspectives of the aviation world. Have fun ![]() |

| Back when I was in 8th grade we had a class you could take and you went on 3 jobs that year and then had to report on them. I worked at a convience store, bakery and then at Delta. My uncle was a systems maintenance controller so I spend 8 hours sitting with him and listening to pilots call in if they had a problem. Honestly it was really boring. The room was small and at the TOC. The only cool thing was Delta had just taken delivery of its first 757 and I got to go onboard while it was in the hanger.
