| That whole crash was just sad and you have to feel bad for the families of everyone on board. But I really feel bad for this FO. You know the mistakes made in that cockpit are going to haunt him. I wouldn't want those nightmares. |

| He should have been fitted with a plain jane model then have a custom fitted prosthetic as the surgical swelling goes down. I wanna say he has had 10 different surgeries. I didn't read how his spirits are, they are the key to getting better!!

| Hospitals always want to free up beds, so as soon as someone becomes stable and does not need hour to hour care they pretty much get moved to a hospice, rehabilitation center or hald-way house of some sort. I am sure he is a long way from feeling normal/healthy even physically - I guess you could say he is out of the woods for the time being, but he is still in tall grass. |

| Old Skool | He said that right after he woke up intially from the accident. I would assume right after he saw, or learned, that his leg was gone. I can't imagine somebody that doesn't remember anything about the accident saying that about the accident.

I don't know what did happen. But what should've happened was something like this: After his initial amputation, he should've had a compression wrap placed on the residual limb. This will help w/ the swelling from the surgical trauma. Then, some type of preparatory limb will be fitted. Major changes to the residuum (shrinkage) occur over the first six months to a year. The muscles atrophy and the swelling goes away. This change in size necessitates a new socket portion of the prosthesis regularly for the first year or two. Beyond this, the shrinkage of the residuum slows and a permanant prosthesis is designed. That is a very basic idea of how it works. Unfortunately, prostheses are very very expensive and most insurances are pathetic as far as coverage goes. These devices need to be replaced regularly and most insurances only covers a minimal expense.

| Old Skool | I'm worried that in addition to his other pain, he'll be subjected to every half-informed crusader and greiving relative screaming at him "It's your fault! You deserve this!!" |

God forbid, if anyone were to tell me that I made a mistake that killed people I can't imagine the guilt and pressure I would feel, even if I didn't actually remember the actual incident.

| Old Skool | I hope this doesn't happen, but probably will. He definately didn't deserve the bad cards he was dealt. As most people don't. |

| Senior Member | Me too, but I'd be surprised if it didn't. People never fail to amaze me with their distant relation to reality. The truth is, accidents happen. Sometimes they're big, sometimes small, but as long as we're still human, we'll still make them. People have talked a lot about how this could have been prevented. Just about EVERY accident would be preventable--if people were perfect. So until those people who make such foolish statements show a perfect record of decision-making, they need to hold their tongues. |

| Agent Smith | Monday morning quarterbacking. When I lived in Wisconsin, I'd get so sick of the fat, drunken moustached losers that was argue about "Brett FAAAAAAARve should have ran de ball hey". If people get all emotional over something silly like a football game, they're certainly going to give him hell about the accident.

Well, that is what Jesus will do, therefore they are closer to Him than many other Christians (or that is what they call themselves) who condone the death penalty, and other aberrations.
