Default Solo Endorsements

Hey everyone. I have a checkride tomorrow for my CFI and Im stumped on something. Here goes.

1) If a student comes to you and says "My old flight instructor cant fly with me anymore and I want to fly with you, I have a current solo endorsement and solo cross country endorsement"

Question: Would I as there new instructor have to go fly with them and give them new solo and solo cross country endorsements? Or could I just fly with them and check them out then let them go solo on there own? In the FAR/AIM it says an "Authorized instructor" must give them these endorsements and for all tense and purposes there old instructor was an authorized instructor.

I realized if there endorsements are older than 90 days old, id have to readminister a pre-solo written, and resign them off for solo and x-country solo, just not sure about if its not expired and they flew with someone else.

2) Also I know that the instructor who gives the ground and flight training for cross countrys is the one who must sign the student off for solo cross countrys, but does that mean that I also have to sign the student off for there initial solo cross country? Or does that just fall under the ruling of having some other authorized instructor reviewing there planning and signing them off?

Thanks

I think legally he can still fly solo as long as it's w/i 90 days, but I wouldn't let him do anything with my signature in the logbook without first flying with him and making damn sure he's up to standards. The longer you instruct, the less you take other people's word for things.....

The instructor that does the training must be the one to make the solo x/c endorsement. Now, the endorsement for x/c planning, etc can be done by any instructor. I've had instructors check my student's solo x/c planning and sign them off before while I was out flying with other students. But, the INITIAL solo x/c endorsements are done by the CFI that did the training. I had someone else's student ask me to sign off on his planning, but he didn't have the solo x/c endorsements done. Told him he'd have to wait on his CFI to get down from his lesson before I could do anything for him.
