Default New License

I took my PPL checkride on 8/30 and I am just curious as to how long should I expect for my actual FAA issued license? I have my temporary airmen's certificate, but I can't wait to have that cool looking plastic card in my hands!!

Chris' skepticism notwithstanding, my FAA cert for my ATP took about six or seven weeks, I think.

From the airmen certification page:
"Airmen Certification
We are currently processing permanent Airmen Certificates for temporary certificates that were issued approximately July 20, 2006"

Here's the link so you can check it next time for yourself.

I've gotten mine on Day 119 twice now. It's not very pleasant.

I passed my checkride on October 1st last year and on a cold Saturday morning in January it arrived. I distinctly remember getting the mail and seeing "FAA" and thinking what the hell?! I had forgotten about it completely!

I got mine around day 110 or so. I didn't really care when I got it as long as I got before the temp. expired.

I actually had to stop flying one day and drive to the FSDO, because my temp CFI cert timed out on me!

Yeah, well get THIS.... I looked myself up in the FAA Airmen Certificate Database and saw they didn't have my latest Class I medical in there. Wrote them an e-mail to ask why, and they told me the following:

Quote:
Dr. XXXXXXXXX has retired and we are unable to get in touch with him.

Your airman medical certificate information cannot be updated without a
current exam; therefore since we are unable to get your last exam, it will
be necessary for you to have an exam with another AME.
SO... NOW they're telling me I gotta pay another 90 bucks (and drive to another city, since Dr. Schmeckenfuss was the only AME in town) to get another Class I!?!?!?

If I hadn't checked the database, I'd never have known.

grrrrrrr

I'm not sure I'd buy that answer. I'd suggest checking around some more, maybe with your local FSDO or asking our resident Dr. Forred in the "Ask a Flight Surgeon" forum. Not sure that he would know the answer, but I'll bet he could steer you in the right direction.

I have a hard time believing that if you have a hard copy of your Medical Cert in hand that they would make you take another exam.

Took my latest checkride 7/31, certificate arrived today (10/02)... 63 days!!! I think that's a record.

FWIW, when I checked my online info last week it was updated with the new stuff, and their site said they were still processing applications from 7/20 (two weeks seems pretty darn approximate to me).
