| Hi, my name is Brent Buchholtz and I've been fascinated in aviation since I was young and started to visualize it as a career. I did a lot of research on FBO's and flight schools which led me to ATP where I am going to go to pursue my career. I heard about jetcareers.com and have come here to find an obscene amount of information about all different areas of aviation and am addicted to the site. I will be posting more as I learn more and hope to see you all in the forums! Please direct my post to the right area, if this is not, I was not 100% sure of where to post an intro, thanks! Brent

| Hi Brent, You probably should have put this at the members announcements but don't worry about it. Why did you choose ATP? Personally, I don't think it's the best choice for many people but they do have a great website/marketing. Please keep up updated on how your training goes. |

| Hey guys, I have to agree they have a great website and marketing, but from all the research I've currently done they stick to what they say which I hear is hard to find at a lot of schools, while it is quite expensive I would say that the quality is worth the cost, not only that but so many people recommend ATP as a great school. For me the accelerated program is perfect because it fits my study style compared to going to a FBO which would take a larger amount of time to go through. I see a lot of people disagree with the amount of time that one is finished with at ATP and wonder why it is a negative if ATP graduates are still getting hired. I'm still researching and have yet to find a school that has a reputation as good as ATP but am sure there are certainly some out there, but ATP is just right for me.

| Old Skool | Very common misconception. With a motivated student, you can finish in that same amount of time even at an FBO. I did. I also had a couple of students finish ratings in lighning fast speed as an instructor. I think it's more about the instructor and students and their motivations than the name on the front of the building.

| If you are studious, have good access to your instructor, decent weather, and good maintenance.....you could get things taken care of in a timely manner anywhere. |

| From what I hear, FBO's cannot compare in the amount of time that ATP does with its immersion program, can you give some examples and insight.

| Old Skool | Brent... Kellwolf and KLB bring up some very valid points. I'll even quote Don here: Quote:
SkyMates and White Air are two that come to mind right off the bat due to their wonderful support of JC.com here! I suppose even Ari could be considered an accelerated FBO type of flight school.Bob

| "FBO's cannot compare in the amount of time that ATP does with its immersion program" ATP is fast for a set price. It's on their website. Take their price to an FBO that has a twin and I bet they could meet the price and do it just as fast. Not all FBO's, but I'll bet for every ATP location in the country you'll find three or four FBO's that could get it done just as well, might cost you less, and maybe you'll find a CFI that has more than six months experience. If there is an ATP location where you live, they would be a strong contender. Just don't count all FBO's out because of what you see at the ATP forum or read at the ATP website. Coming to the general fourm at JC is giving you a much more balanced input, as you can see from the responses so far. |
