Smile about to get started help!!!

It looks like it. But not till next summer. For the last couple of years I've been looking at FBO's around the area, visited 1, had an intro lesson. I didn't like any of them because of the high cost and because I refused to borrow any loans to work on my PPL. I have been keeping an eye on this one FBO. I visited them today, but couldn't talk with an instructor yet. They have 2 planes. The C-150 costs $59 and the 172 costs $83. It is a very small place, but I liked the look of it. The person at the front desk was able to answer a couple of questions. First, I have the option to sign up for ground school in February and start doing it on my own. (I do not want to start actual flight training now, because of school and because I am still in the process of gathering financial resources, but by May of next year when I am off school, I should be good to go). I like the idea of finishing ground school prior to starting on my flight training. I think that way I can save a lot of money and time. Agreed? Also they recommended a book that I should study (the name doesn't come to my mind, but it is not by Gleim or Jeppesen). Now I might have a problem with this. About a couple of weeks ago I stumbled on Rod Machado's PPL handbook, which I have fallen in love with. I seem to understand most material without even flying. His humour keeps me away from boredom. Well I am sure the readers know this. Is it possible for me to do this? Please tell me if I am way off. I am going to talk to an instructor next week about signing up for ground school etc. If it is an established fact that this certain book is "the best" please let me know. I would be sad to abandon Rod's book though!

The Machado book is excellent. Jeppesen is good in its own ways, but it is very dry. I used the Machado when I was preparing for my private and we use it for all of our Private students. The Jeppesen manuevers Book is good for descibing the manuevers you need to perform for your license. The only real advantage to Jeppesen is that the material is gonna be dry once you progress beyond your private and you will be familiar with the format.
