Default Anybody familiar with DTW Airport??

Hey, Im visiting colleges in September and will be staying at the DTW Westin Hotel. The Hotel Site said it has its own security area or something like that so does that mean you are actually in the terminal (i.e. you can walk around the terminal) or is it just on the airport site. Let me know!

Thanks in Advance!!

Ack! My original post means nothing now!

Why the heck are you checking out State if you're from the east coast? You going to be a farmer or something?

I wouldn't stay at the airport in Detroit, the area is a real bag. You might want to kick it up in East Lansing and check out the town a little bit if you're looking at spending a few years there.

<---Western Michigan University alum, about an hour down the road from State.

So you're flying into Detroit, then driving to Columbus and then to Virginia?

Yeah bro I would seriously avoid the hotel at the Detroit airport. Go kick it up in East Lansing, you'll thank me. Further, Lansing is like over an hour away from Detroit; not exactly next door.

Also make it a two day drive or you're going to want to hang yourself somewhere in Canada. Trust me, I found that one out the hard way.

Seconded! The airport and surrounding area's require packing heat to stay alive. Avoid it if possible.

The Westin is in The new Terminal. It has it's own secururity check point but you will still have to have to comply with all the TSA rules to get back into the terminal. It is across from gate A36.

don't bother with MSU, come check out University of Michigan. Way better school, awesome campus, and if you're planning on flying while in school, KARB is right down the road.

also, the area around DTW is rather boring, it's not unsafe anymore than anywhere else (whoever made the comment about packing heat is thinking of Detroit City airport, not metro)

When are you coming into town?

If you're driving, why stay at an airport hotel? Even if it has its own security checkpoint, you can't get through without a ticket.

Stay in Lansing, or at least a nicer part of the Detroit area. Romulus (where DTW is) is not the best place in the world. I try to avoid that overnight whenever possible.

True dat. She tried to chop 23 graduate programs! I guess the board didn't like that. This should have happened 3 years ago.

I loved how they offered her a buyout and she refused, so they just canned her ass. I remember when she was supposed to speak at the airport (when some guy donated a Sabreliner to the school), she showed up 20-30 minutes late, cut in line to see the inside of the plane, and left early. What a *****!!!

Sorry for the thread hijacking, though.
