Okay. Let's not start this crap! Enough with the name-calling/finger-pointing. Either focus on the topic at hand or take the insults to the PM.

Did you read my post? This respoinse is apples and oranges...

If we "knew" this was a problem as has been claimed why did we wait til lAFTER a supposed plot happens to do anything (procedural changes) to circumvent it?

We have foiled many plots since 9/11 on a smaller scale. Im sure US intel was present in London and had a lot to do with foiling this plot. I am okay with doing what they tell me to do. No water? No problem Ill buy another or wait until I get on the plane. No toothpaste? Buy more. These are very minor inconveniences and so far it has worked.

I agree, focus on the issues at hand. But don't insult me by telling me I'm a poor American.

By April of next year I will have provided 4 years of my life for this country. Unfortunately it doesnt appear that it did any good. Our constitution continues to get urinated on, and we continue to fight a fake war in Iraq.

So now that our own government has failed us, again, they have a knee-jerk reaction because they don't know WHO could possibly do the acts that were twarted in the UK.

Champcar,

I am doing what I feel is right. I've already spoken to all of my elected officials, for the state of South Carolina, and Georgia.

I'm getting my opinion heard, because I am un-happy with the way this country is being ran. I'm sorry but I'm not an elected official, so I can't exactly have my plan put in place. You follow? That's not how this country works.

What are you doing?

When Bill went through security this morning, flight crews were not yet exempt. I'm not sure what he ended updoing with his stuff, but I know he doesn't carry much in the way of liquids in his bags anyway. Just hairgel, toothpaste, etc.

I'll be curious to see how his day went! He's supposed to get to his overnight in an hour or so.

Most of us dont agree either. I hate our President but I love this country and will obey what ever new rules are put in place to keep me and everyone else safe. Knee jerk or not this is a wake up call for all of us. These people still hate us and will stop at nothing to get to us. We need to remember that everyday. Yeah that sucks but that is the world we live in now.

Isn't that why men and women in my position are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Thankfully NATO is taking control of Afghanistan in the next coming months. But Iraq?

Yup, we are really protecting ourselves by fighting them over there, as opposed to fighting them here.

It is the world we live in. But we have the power of the vote, of a movement. If we are unhappy with how things are wrong we are (still thankfully) able to voice our dissenting opinions.

Pretty sure i've never done that. What i was saying was you are acting as if it is a bad thing that you are living in this free country and that you are beeing inconvenienced by your constant crying.

So lets forget about security becasue $30 of makeup is so much more important. Wow our priorities are still the same.

So it's now a bad thing to try to protect individual's rights and civil liberties?

I'll end on this note.

Why, once again, we are not actually focusing on the problems before hand to actually provide sufficient protection to our citizens. Instead, we have kneejerk, off the cuff, reactions to information.

Just makes you wonder if our own government had a clue about this. And if they did, I can guarentee you that you would not see a paranoied driven reaction like we see today.

The "undetectable" substances are now just going into the underside ofthe aircraft. They aren't being banned completely. THAT is the point. If they are still being allowed on the aircraft and can't be "detected" what the HEL is the point of barring them from the cabin. THERE IS NO POINT.

and THAT is the point.

I don't think everything liquid had to be thrown away, it just had to be checked. If you were a pax, you could just check your bag, and you were out nothing $-wise. (The liquid items in question this morning were separate items that had to be mixed to be explosive.)

Bill's F/As checked their bags so they wouldn't have to mail themselves anything or throw anything away. My guess is a working crew (especially commuter/regional crew at an outstation) could have left some stuff with the local station people and picked it up later or had it mailed to them.

We'll see a bit later here what the final fallout is going to be, if this liquid ban is going to remain, or if they'll just keep crews exempt or what. In the UK this morning NO carryons were being allowed, everything was having to be checked. Imagine boarding an international flight, and only be allowed a small clear plastic bag with your ID, money, and personal effects essential to the flight time!

I especially like how the goverment/media is so spectacularly talking about this story. Perhaps we all would have been better off with simple information about a terror plot was foiled and all could be well. Carry on. But no, our government is using this as yet another scare tactic (hence waiting until the last minute) to take away more of our liberties and spread paranoia. This is exactly what the #########s want. Disrupt our way of life and economy. Don't get me wrong, I am all about security but common sense and cool heads need to prevail. I really hope they get the investigation done quickly and things return to 'normal'.

I feel really bad for all commuters if they start sticking the rule to us. Commuting in uniform sucks, cause "no Mr. passenger I don't know where the flight to Houston is."

Well then all electronics would have to be banned from the aircraft. Watch what happens when you take people iPods and laptops away.

The solution is obvious.

1) Eliminate all carryon baggage. You can then take out the bins, make the planes lighter.

2) All passengers must fly naked.

There. Problem solved.
