Designated Hitter? Decision Height? Dick H.... sorry. I am in the HR industry although I am not a CEU or whatever those letters are. I am aware of what MinnesotaFlyer is talking about though, as Griggs vs. Duke Power is brought up every time a black person feels he or she should have the job they didn't get, even if they have a degree!

All things being equal, I'll be more inclined to take a pilot with a degree than a pilot without the degree with the same flying experience. I'll also be expected to pay him more. I do believe HR folks wish for well rounded employees.

I think they want to know if we have the answer to, " When did they start adding letters in Algebra." ? haha just kidding! I just think a degree makes you more marketable in the industry. Besides the simple fact, it at least shows you can complete a variety of courses and stick it out.

It isn't possible to earn a degree through distance learning while you are drudging along as a regional FO / junior CA. Just (edit) do it. Return on Investment. You deserve what you put into it. | Moderator | I don't understand, you say it isn't possible, then you say 'just (edit) do it'?

Those of us in HR who are credentialed have our PHR or SPHR or GPHR designations. To maintain them after the initial exam, we have to attend classes to get our Continuing Educational Units (CEU's) to qualify to continue as a professional HR person. If you would like more information, please PM.

| You're right, of course. I was thinking one thing and wrote another. What I should have written was that manufacturing/industrial jobs like the jobs at issue in Griggs now commonly require a H.S. diploma or equivalent, but no one, to my knowledge, has made any concerted attempt to challenge them.
