Im currently enrolled with Spartan College of Aeronautics and very confused. So far I feel like I have been lied to about everything to get me into this school to get my money. I am also thinking of transferring down to Delta Connection Academy for the rest of my training. Any suggestions...Please help!!! Currently: Private Pilot Certificate since June 05 - 107 hours tt |

"So far I feel like I have been lied to about everything to get me into this school to get my money" Why do you say that? What made you want to go there in the first place? "I am also thinking of transferring down to Delta Connection Academy for the rest of my training" You think that place is honest? Do a little research at the DCA forums here. In my opinion, based on what I've heard, these are two good schools. I'd stay away from the big name schools. http://www.flymfs.com/ http://www.skymates.com/ |

i dont know much about flight academies. all i have heard is that they are very expensive. after looking at their site i see some things that are hard for me to believe. 24 months, 0 to 1000TT? Thats 9.6 hours of flying every week. i would recommend flying at an FBO if possible. Cheap, convenient.

I'll help, Spartan and Delta both bad, very bad. Look into the schools that advertise on this site, other than them your local FBO is your best bet.

If your in Tulsa, theres a 4 year college right down the road in durant thats very good and very cheap. 4 year degree and flight training for about 40K Theyll credit your current trainin and it got other people there besides pilots. Southeastern Oklahoma State University if you have questions PM me. |

So um, why do you feel you were lied to? Did you do enough research before you went, or did you drink the kool-aid? More specifcally, if you drank the kool-aid, what exactly were the kool-aid's incredients. You see where I'm getting at? There are thousands of people that fall for these traps a year. Why not explain why you were lied to. Give us something to chew on and to help you with. |

Pilotjoey, my radar goes on "high gain" when the first post from someone has some rather inflammatory statements in it, whether they are true or not. How about joining back into the conversation so I don't think that you are just out trolling the forum?

I came into this school with a private licence and now I really dont think this school is for me. From what im understanding its going to take me 6 years before I even recieve close to the amount of hours before I can get a job.

6 years? Yeah, leave. . . ASAP. Go find yourself a nice state school, get your degree, and multitask a bit and finish your CPL through MEI and enjoy life. Hell, I don't even have my PPL yet and I know it won't take me 6 years. |

No clue, I'd check the DCA archive. It's at the very bottom of the forum layout. Off of the information I have gathered, I'd stay around from the big name academys. Places like Skymates, Ari, Falcon Aviation, and ALL ATPs are some of the better companies to look towards. |

"I heard that at Delta Connection Academy you get what you put into it. Is that true?" This should be true no matter where you train. Not sure what you're getting at? By the way, Joey, have you ever seen a grown man naked or do like movies about Gladiators? Sorry, couldn't resist.... |

Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro isn't that bad. We have all brand new DA-20 & DA-40's, some 40's have G-1000 cockpits in them. Our maintenance program is getting better because a new hanger was just built to work on more airplanes at a time. You would have a chance to build multi time by flying the university president around in a Cessna 404. And the university has the largest undergraduate population in Tennessee! Well for what it is worth, I am having a great time!

| Now. . .even I'm raising an eyebrow. Who in their right mind would spent that much money and STILL be there. Not too comfortable about this thread unless there's specifics.

I see you guys do Touch and Go's at KCNU quite often, does Spartan have anything besides 152's? That is all I see anyways.

We had a guy come down from Spartan to Skymates that had been there for over a year. He hadn't even solo'ed yet. As far as DCA, you'll get out of it what you put into it, but you'll also put in a lot more $$$ than you would at other places. The whole "we've got jobs no one else has" line is BS, BTW. Plenty of guys not from DCA getting hired at Delta Connection carriers (well, the ones that are hiring at least).

Since you obviously are still seeking a degree, I would recommend a state university with a flight program, particularly if you can qualify for in-state tuition. Otherwise, I'd say go to college in your home state (non-aviation) and take flight training at a nearby FBO. Pat Murphy |
