Default How to get into formation teams?

I always been interested in aerobatics and formation precision flying. I know we have lots of teams in the USA which do this kind of flying, such as:

Red Barons
Aeroshell Team
Patriot Jet Team
and more.

How does one goes to become a part of these teams?

Does anyone have any experience to what path to follow to end up as a show performer pilot?

Find some friends to practice with.
Get the ACE training or whatever it's called.
Talk to any of those guys at an airshow.

I think formation flying is probably the coolest flying around.

Its just so cool to keep the distance so close, but safe at all times.

I don't know if it gets boring, but I think that you really have to try these things before knowing if you actually like doing them. I remember thinking "aerobatics are so awesome, I'd be so good at that." HAH! I was puking all over the place for a week before I could think straight up there. You really don't know until you've been there, and we've all fallen prey to it. I just think non-pilots should know this going in...

Ick!!! I freakin' HATE formation flying! It eats up all your concentration while we could be doing more useful tasks, or at least enjoying the view. The only one I can stand is a loose combat trail.

It gets really interesting when you want to look at your sectional.
