1. Get a lawyer. It's not going to be cheap but you need proper representation and sound legal advice.
2. Read this after you call an attorney.

The anchors don't work, but scroll down to the DUI portion. You don't have a DUI but the advice is still good as it was written by a "former manager of pilot selection at a major airline". Let's just say it's the third largest airline in America.

I just cant believe that a Minor misdemeanor like this can potentially hurt me so much... I will look into getting an attorney. I still have quite a few days before my court date. But I myself believe the case is going to be thrown out, since most of the officers at the station told me its usually a slap in the wrist.

I feel like an Idiot, and ashamed. I have never really done anything stupid I always watch my self. I never though two beers would screw things up so bad! I feel like all the hard work to pay for my flight training is in jeopardy!

Learn from this mistake (granted you didnt do anything wrong) and be more careful next time. Get it expunged when you're 21, and ask your lawyer if you can check "NO" for "have you ever been convicted or plead no contest to a misdemeanor and/or felony?" then tell me what he said. thanks

Whatever you do, don't follow this guys advice, IMO. 3 misdemeanor's? LOL. You'd be laughed out of the interview room, especially for the same thing (and being alcohol related).

Remember, getting it expunged from your "record" doesn't expunge it from the city governments records. I have several traffic tickets that never showed up on my driving record (NDR and state) but those tickets still exist in county records. Wanna know how I know? I called the city clerk to find out the exact date / offense so I could report them on my airline applications

. Even more so, they are public record!

Airlines conduct extensive background checks and answering "NO" to a question such as "Have you ever been arrested" etc. etc. could screw you. I have personally known several people asked to leave training because of things they've covered up on their background checks. Be honest and you'll be ok. I had 3 traffic tickets, a suspended license, and several accidents on my record and it was never even brought up an the interviews I went to (and I was subsequently hired).

Absolutley get a lawyer and NEVER plead guilty. Don't listen to what the cops said...they just want you not to get pissed while you were in jail. Don't coun't on paperwork screwups etc.....Just like everything else plan for the worst but hope for the best. ''

Treat it like youll get the full sentence and do everything you can to avoid any of it. I think my lawyer ended up costing me 200 bucks..money well spent. Should have spent more.

Why wouldn't you plead guilty. Judges like that and will take pity on you. I got an attroney and it helped.

I say listen to the attorney when deciding your plea...don't decide until you talk to your attorney and he gives you his best recommendation.
