Spotted in Key West, Dorks on parade

So, I'm roaming around Key West on Duval St. with my girlfriend when out of the corner of my eye I see two pilots in uniform leave some classy T-shirt shop across the street.

The odd thing was (other than two uniformed pilots walking around in that environment) that their uniforms didn't match. I thought that was odd, since generally the uniforms have the same epaulets, etc. These were different colors altogether. Then they literally walk between my girlfriend and I, and I read the wings which read, "DCA." "DCA, what the heck airline is that?", I thought. It soon dawned on me that they were student/instructor from one of those flight schools...

It could have been worse, they could have been in an airport seeing how the other half lives...

Cool, did you get their autograph or at least some tips on how to make it in this industry? I mean they are wearing uniforms so they must be doing something right

I don't want to defend DCA too much, but it is possible that they flew down there on a xc flight and were killing time before heading back up. We used to go from Stuart to Marathon and have lunch before returning. That said, if I had to wear a uniform (oh wait, I do) I would probably bring a change of clothes if I was going to wander around.

Hahaha...yeah yeah yeah. I always tried to get out of my monkey suit as soon as my feet hit the dirt though.

And Bob, I agree with you, they could have had a change of clothes.

Interestingly, the out of place pilots were the oddest thing I saw. The sights weren't as interesting as I would have thought. The wildest things I saw were the chickens walking around everywhere. All the free chicken walking down the sidewalk is pretty tempting for a poor FO like me!

How hard is it to lose the jacket, take off all 'dork' insingia, and just walk around in blue pants and a white shirt?

Just cause you have a couple hours somewhere and no change of clothes doesn't mean you have to parade around in uniform like a dork.

It's a bitter pill, but true.

My freshman year, I thought I was the "New Hotness (tm)" when we'd drive down to ASU from Prescott to, as Iain says, "chase totty", but unless you're a Viper or Hog driver from one of the local AFB's, you might as well tell them you work at Hot Dog On A Stick.

Pilots are only hella-cool to other pilots and kids.

Haha yes... here's a visual for what a White Party is... everyone dresses in white. And as Max said, yes white party usually refers to all the cocaine involved. Sad but true - the good thing is there are some of these circuit parties that benefit charity and are drug free.

until i saw that i thought it was a picture of a house party at an aviation school.. a ton of dudes standing around 2 girls (i THINK those are chicks in the top pic)
