I don't really care about Varig. The airline I really liked (VASP) is no longer flying. They are supposed to be coming back soon from what I heard.

I think the future of the airlines in Brazil belongs to GOL and TAM.

Except when they test the PTT switch and it goes "WOOOOOO *CRACK* *CRACK* *POP* WOOOOO" in my ear!

But they do provide good entertainment as I watch them stare off into oblivion during pushback with the wand up without even looking at where the airplane is going.

Nothing worse though than to plug the headset in at departure time and no one in the cockpit is listening and its raining and cold.....screw the ptt button...beat on side of airplane

Whenever I don't have one, I can virtually guarantee that we're going to have an "abnormal". My last captain laughed at me when I said that, but low and behold, almost out to 34L, back to the gate!

How about when marshalling, its dark out and the plane turns in towards the ramp and the landing lights are still on! OUCH! TOO BRIGHT!

That's because you didn't know VARIG in the 80s, Brian. Back then, their in-flight service was excelent and they were always on time. It's an unfortunate death for VARIG.
