Default Antonov's at KSLC

For anyone in the SLC area, there are 3 very large Antonov planes parked out by the UPS building.

I dont have a digital camera, so I cant post a pic.

Matthew

ps- rumor I heard..they were transporting a bunch of supercars like ferrari's, vipers ect. for celeb's to drive on some around the world race and the leg they're on is salt lake to vegas I think (I watched 3 of them tear it up leaving the executive terminal this morning)

One of those was in Long Beach a few months ago, delivering a piece of a satellite to be sea launched.

They come to LGB once in a while to deliver parts to SeaLaunch. Awesome to see these things land. Glad they have a new paint job though.

It was a joke "virgin tail". My pictures are way too big, I will see if Matt can get them on the board Sunday.

I get it now. I need more sleep. I started Sat with the intentions of going to the Bees game and ended up Harryos at Park City partying with a bunch of Powderbirds pilots and strippers. Way hungover on Sun.

Yep, those are AN-124s operated by Volga-Dnepr. We used them here at Ramstein every once in a while for operations into places where the AF is not willing to send C-5s or C17s - such as the Pakistani earthquake relief mission last year.

My job was to do the load planning for the aircraft. The best part was when Dnepr's loadmaster did not accept my load plan and did his own on his cell phone - all he cared about was the weight - he eyeballed the rest. At any rate, the plane itself is truly amazing - even has it own crane for loading/unloading cargo.

...and just to get things warmed up a little. The AN-124 is bigger than the C-5. Discuss!!
