Wow - you can see there's some 'true' freightdawgs in there near the end as some of the planes are going through that mess LOL! Something really interesting - it seems FedEx has a backup plan for diversions, a/c that couldn't get in when they needed too went to BNA, STL, etc. Pretty amazing what goes on there to make things run smoothly.

For some reason it is saying I don't have permission to watch it. And yes, I have registered.

I didn't register to see this vid, but I got to see it through other channels. It is an earlier version of the system I support with FAA. Fed-Ex got the first version and UPS is partnering with FAA for continued development. Surface apps are an area ripe for efficiency improvements. The future vision is to triple capacity in the NAS and to do that will require greater efficiency throughout the system. The first step is working with airlines (the freight guys are leading the way since they are making money and have resources to devote to IT development) to help automate and improve their ground ops (which can tie into managing flight ops) then start pushing that data up to ATC to improve predictive models. A lot of steps occur before clearance request, and it's probable that feeding that data to ATC will allow better predictions of airspace demand than are currently possible. I actually have a couple of systems (one on my laptop) that let me watch what's going on in the NAS in real time. Ya' never know when I might be watching you guys! | |
