How did Awac reserve go to 6 months? People were holding lines out of class two months ago.

That's what happens when a company goes from hiring like there's no tomorrow to hiring a trickle.

Personally, I would think reserve would be cool. Get paid to sit at home, bbq, do other work, etc. and fly every now and then.

Congrats!

Is AWAC going to be doing anything with the 146s now that they're off the UAX ASE routes? I can't imagine that any of AWAC's new partner airlines would want to use those old gas hogs :-) Do the 146 pilots just get downgraded to the CRJ and take a pay cut?

The 146's are all gone. The last flight was Easter Sunday, and within a week they were all off the property. They are either in the desert, or with new owners.

A lot of our senior 146 pilots, the ones with only a couple of years to go to age 60, chose to take early retirement. The rest are in class for the CRJ. And yes, the are taking a pay cut.

I was an intern at AA. Brand new from Evrette(sp). It had the 50hr 767 smell to it.

In that case you gotta go to ORF. Living in PHL is a drag, and DCA costs 2x what ORF does when it comes to living expenses. The most junior guys/gals are in PHL now but I think there will be quite a bit of hiring in the coming months as the 146 guys burn through their sick time and bolt. Living in base is the only way to go here...

Congrats! I think AWAC is the top of my Regional list and will probably be the first one's I send a resume to. I've done some research on them and like what I have seen and read so far. Can anyone else offer their opinion/experience about them? I hear that they are one of the largest Regionals in the US and a great company to work for. I got some photos of them at PHL a few weeks ago.
