No prob man..... Lane Wallace actually did a little article on it in this month's Flying mag. It's supposed to be the mother of general flight sims to date..... I'm stoked. |

They almost always come out in sept-dec. The last one was delayed due to 9-11. They had to take out WTC.

| ![]() I cant believe you guys use MSFS2002 or MSFlight Simulator at all. I think the best Flight simulator out there is x-plane. Its great. I personally think it is much better then Flight Simulator. you can get the full version (free and legal) at www.x-plane.com click the demo and updates on the left. http://www.x-plane.org/users/lorenzo/boeing767.html http://www.x-plane.org/users/lorenzo/md11.html http://www.x-plane.org/users/lorenzo/a330.html http://www.x-plane.org/users/lorenzo/boeing777.html You can even MAKE your own PLanes faster easier and you GET the free software IN the game and there are TONS and TONS of new airplanes and scenery from all over the world which is exactly the same in a sim as in the real world. And like FS you get the exact same weather as in x-plane which is real time weather. http://www.x-plane.org/Aircraft/ Doug is this the kind of plane you fly? |

Those are just a few from over thousands and thousands of planes that exist the were made by people other then x-plane staff. PLus there are like 35 more planes that come with the game. Soo any one try it yet??? |

I agree that X-Plane is very good in several areas, but it's not without its downsides: it's overpriced, there is zero documentation, and as of recent versions, it won't run on my computer, a 600 MHz PIII with 512 MB of RAM--it complains my sound card isn't sufficient, of all things! The developer, a one-man company, spends lots of time on capabilities I'm not interested in, like being able to build your own aircraft and flying to Mars in it. I will say that the flight dynamics and aircraft handling (for the heavies, at least) is very good and comparable to what I've experienced in real, full-motion simulators. The general aviation aircraft have usually left me wanting. In sum, X-Plane does a few things very well, other things not so well, and some things quite badly for a supposedly commercial product. MSFS, on the other hand, is sorta like McDonald's; while not as good in some areas, is pretty good in most, and doesn't fall completely flat in any area that the average simmer would be interested in. |

| [/ QUOTE ] Aww, dude, there's no point if you dont have a joystick. Flying with keys is like flying only by adjusting the trim. Even a crappy joystick has to beat using the keys! Makes for some interesting landings I bet! [/ QUOTE ] Hah, you are very right about the landings, sit there while the 727 is bouncing off the runway, but I can still stick most of them, just takes a sec. Alright, so wait for 2003 or 2004 whichever, and joystick, got it. Also, I am pretty good with the keys. |

Yeah I'm sure the flight dynamics with X - plane are better but I'm only hand flying the heavies for take off and landing anyhow. I'm more interested in selection of aircraft, scenery and graphics which I think FS exceeds in all areas. As for joystick, I got a wingman force 3d. It's got a throttle, and enough buttons for stuff like trim, flaps and gear and it has a very handy toggle switch to look around the virtual cockpits. Right now I've been doing a bit of sight seeing around Vero Beach area, maybe if I'm lucky I'll know the airport arrangement and freqs before I get there ![]() PS Can anyone tell me where the FSA facilites are located on the airport? |
