Default Seattle area pilots - guess the airport

Guess the airstrip in picture...if you can! It has been closed for a couple years, so newly-minted pilots may not have any idea.

Also, jrh isn't allowed to answer since I told him in a PM.

Martha Lake.

I wanted to say Bellevue but the FBO was at the south end airport and it just didn't look right.

Whatever it is, I sure would think twice about driving a CONVERTABLE that close to the numbers. :P

Don got it - it's Martha Lake, just a couple miles Southeast of KPAE. All 1680' of it. It's being turned into a park now, so I've heard.

Anybody want to take a guess at that mountain airport, located not too far from Seattle? DE727UPS isn't allowed to answer since I'm pretty sure he knows. I can post a picture of it from the air, for a 'hint'.

Even though its already been answered, the first one is Martha Lake. Been there (not by plane), and walked around the runway surface. My friend and I actually saw the old hangars still there! Remember when that one guy took off from there and had an engine failure into the actual Martha Lake?

As for the avatar, is it Ranger Creek? Can't think of any other mountain airports that have that many trees around it. I know its not Darrington, and pretty sure its not Stehekin (sp?). I'll stick with Ranger Creek.

Correct! I had the fortune to be at the controls for that particular approach. My bud in the right seat was taking the pictures. We were on that final approach for about 30 miles!

A lot of fun!

So DE727UPS, am I right about the Ranger creek? Looking4lower doesn't seem to be giving it up!

OK, it IS Ranger Creek. Here's a photo on final, looking to the Southwest. Looks like there is a huge mountain right off the end of the runway, but the valley is actually pretty wide as it curves to the left.

Ranger Creek is paved, I thought, and the one in his avtar doesn't look paved. The other possibility is Bandera.

Catalina is off the coast from Los Angeles.

If you lived in Everett and are talking about a valley, I'd guess Snohomish. Liberty doesn't ring a bell.

It's a trick!! The avatar picture shows a little gravel road that parallels the runway. The runway is just off the edge of the photo.

I fly outta PAE in Everett, and I dunno of any airports named liberty. There is Harvey in Snohomish though, that might be it.

Here are some of the other airports in the valley area: Arlington, Skagit/Bayview, Monroe, Sultan, Frontier (Pvt), Whidbey/Langley (on the island across the sound from Paine). Those are all the nearby ones. Hope that helps!

So looking4lower, what do I win?
