Default Banned meds list for pilots?

I am feeling like crap today and am thinking about cxling my lesson later on this afternoon. I am looking through my med cabinet to see what can make me feel better and still be legal to fly if I feel up to it at the time of the lesson.

Anyone have a link to the official list where it shows what kind of meds you can take and still be legal?

The FAA does not publish an "approved Medication" list, however you can find a list of medication approved by the FAA here.

Thank you, that would explain why I couldn't find it on FAA.gov.

Looks like no flying for 12 hrs after the meds I took. Too bad today is like the nicest weather we have had in ages.

There ya go, he isn't on a plane though... If I took him up, I bet he would just climb up on the front dash and try and block the view so he could get attention.

Aviation Medicine has a decent database about what you can and cannot use.

Get well...I know your students are dissapointed to have their CFI say, "I'm sorry, I'm really not feeling well today. I'm going to have to cancel." It has happeneded to me, but luckily we have another CFI around who does not mind taking the others students on days when one is not avaliable.

Oh I misread your post. Nevermind. Not a CFI. Yes, I hate being sick and not being able to fly! Get well though.

Whatever you take, for your own safety, make sure you test it on an off-day.

Claritan (sp?) is on the approved list for allergies, they swear it has no side effects, but I feel dopey and lethargic when I take it.

And why make it personal? who cares how old I am?

ok..... Yeah, I doubt kitty would be down with any of that kind of stuff anyway. And everyone knows, if a cat doesn't want to do it, he ain't gonna be doin' it!

As for the drugs, I am going with zicam and mucinexD with some tylenol PM tonight. I have another flight in the morning but it isn't looking too promising at the moment since I feel like the entire Chinese army marched across my tongue recently. Also feel like I did a few rounds with Mike Tyson but I got TKO'd before he bit my ear off.

I haven't been sick in a long time so it was good to get to read up on all the medical stuff today. Didn't realize there was that much to it. Anyway it has been educational being sick this time.

Shinerbock, you're very new to the community.

By all means, look both ways before stepping into traffic.
