| This was posted in another forum but i havent got answers yet. Ok, im a little confused, how do i know where to find a school with extended campus, also if i did that, is my degree from ERAU or from the school i went to? I'm entering as a freshman next fall semester and that is actually really good, becuase im broke, lol. Do you actually fly or is it only ground school? Sorry im editing this now, i was looking on there web site and now im really confused. Apparently ER has over 100 extended campus centers, are these community colleges? I guess the main confusion is this; ER ext campus is $4,XXX, do i pay for anything else, or is that all inclusive. I would assume the only thing else i need to pay is flight fees, but i need someone who's done the program to confirm. I mihgt put this in the general area so dont get mad, lol.

| We had a program at Mt. Hood Community College with ER. After two years at Mt Hood you transfered to ER and did your class work at Flight Craft located at Portland International. After watching the aviation industry for a year, I decided it would be wise to get a Business Degree. My .02, ask yourself what would you do if you lost your medical?

| Riddle actually has offices/classrooms in many of the cities the mention. In Atlanta they have a place on the northside up by the AF base and they also utilize conference rooms down at Delta's HQ. Theses extended though are not for flying..they are more for the working professional

| Old Skool | The only ones I know of are the extended offices like Tim mentioned. I'm getting my degree from ERAU through distance learning/extended campus, and I normally go up to the extended campus office here in Memphis to get my dose of the Riddle Runaround. When all is said and done, my diploma should look a lot like one from Daytona or Prescott.

| I am doing mine online so I dont have to go to a classroom. For some of the classes it would nice have the classroom environment but overall I like the online deal. Fortunately for me I dont get the Riddle Runaround unless its an email......

| FORETWOONE--Without going back to the ERAU website, most of the centers for extended campus programs are on military bases across the U.S. and Europe. That's where a large portion comes from. You can get an associate, bachelor, or masters degree through the extended campus program. I just received my degree (B.S. in Professional Aeronautics with minors in Aviation Safety and Management) and the degree says Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. It doesn't matter whether you go to the main campus or do your classes on line through extended campus. It offers a great opportunity and the flexibility one would need with a busy schedule. The online classes have come a long way and there are a lot more courses available than when I first started in 1994....I just received my diploma like three weeks ago :-) so I've taken classes recently too. | Thats not that bad doing courses online, it would allow me to keep my job, but im most curious how flight training is done? Is it at these military bases, or do you find a private school to get your rating from?

| Junior Member | Im currently at the ERAU Center in Miami. Basically what you do is take your first two years at a community college. All those credits should transfer over to ERAU. Take the last two years at the ERAU center thats close to you. And your flying you do at a local FBO. Doesnt matter which one. Everytime you get a new rating you just give it to your advisor and they will give you credits for it. Im in my last year at the campus. Ive also taken a few online course. Its not a bad idea as long as you have the discipline to sit down and do it. If you have any questions send me a PM, ill be glad to help out. |

| Old Skool | I'm another Riddle non-campus(er). I did 23 classes online. I had a great experience. I was able to use my experience in aviation to help me along in the classes. I paid a fraction of what I would have paid on-campus. I got what I wanted out of college by doing it online and didn't have any "fat" to cut out of my learning...and you can't tell the difference between my diploma and anybody else's. Not that it matters.

| I was telling kellwolf in another post that i might want to do Skymates academy and get my rating and then just do Extended Campus at the Fort Worth location down there while instructing. I plan to do this right out of high school, so im wondering(and even tried calling embry to find out) if i need 2 years of community college, or will Embry train me with no prior college?

| Old Skool | Are you asking about just Extended Campus and Distance Learning? I know for Distance Learning at ERAU, you need to show prior aviation experience to get in the program. It's like Commercial/Multi with 1000 PIC or CFI with 500 dual given or something like that. Controllers and mechanics can get in with prior experience, too.

| Hmm, interesting, so they accept you based on your flight experience, not your education credentials like a normal university would. I guess thats good because i plan to have around 300TT when i apply.

| I got credit for my past college classes also. Way back when I started most universities were on the quarter system and then swapped to the semester. I wound up getting 36 total semester hours of college credit. I had pretty much only take core classes up to that point. For some reason I couldnt get the 5 hrs for my scuba diving class.
