Default Bird Strike Pics

I had a bird strike last week going into CRQ and it made me think about this nasty one, one of our brasilias had last year going into KIPL. Here are some pics of it. It was hit at 9pm at night at approx 6,000'.

I once marshalled in an RJ and saw a blotch of blood slightly bigger than a bowling ball about an inch above the captains window. Scary thing was it seemed like a big bird, and they had no idea they had hit it.

If you look carefully, to the left of the body parts, you can see a pinkish cloud of bird goo.

Flying low-level in Iraq one day we spooked a whole flock of birds right into our formation. We all evaded pretty successfully except one of our ships who took a few direct hits. The grossest was a bird who crashed right through the PICs windscreen and literally blew-up on his helmet and visor (thank god his visor was down!) Another bounced down the right side and impaled itself on the door-gun, effectively clogging it with bird goo. Troopers that they were, the continued the mission and eventually landed down in Kuwait. The PIC was absolutely drenched in goo, blood, and guts, and the lower part of his face was incredibly wind-burned thanks to not having a windscreen for the last few hours of the mission.

On a different mission, I actually lanced a bird with one of my pitot tubes!
