Default how to go from graduation to first job?

Okay so just a thought and question here....

When I finish up at end of next year Ill have everything through CFII (maybe MEI as well) and probably only about 250TT....

All the jobs I'm looking at are nothing less than 1000TT and 200multi... or roughly thereabouts.

Thats still a LONG WAY between what ill graduate with and what I will need...

so

what do people do to get that time? Theres no way in hell I'll be able to just buy that many hours and I'll need something to at least pay the rent and the minimum payments on my student loans...

How do people go about tackling this seemingly large gap?

I must be missing something here. Why in the world are you getting the CFI, CFI-I, and MEI if you don't plan to use them?

Also, technically this isn't a "job available" post. Probably would be better suited in the general forum.

As for not having enough time, have you checked out the jobs I've posted? Hardly any CFI jobs require a minimum TT, and if they do you'd probably have it with 250 hrs (unless you're talking MAPD, IFTA, etc.).

There are plenty of CFI jobs that will hire with little CFI experience...

i suppose i was unclear that places would hire CFI's with little experience... i guess its just a disconnect in my head that you would have someone inexperienced teaching other people....?

Yeah, but how do you get experience if you're never allowed to gain experience?

Move back to Texas and get a job as an instructor. There are a ton of places down there to work, you just may have to find them. What is your ultimate goal? Airline, corporate, military, etc...? In my opinion, Texas is a great place to look for corporate work. And with Houston and Dallas, a commute for an airline job might not be so bad.

And do your self a favor, get experiance in as many kinds of aircraft as you can. There is nothing fun or educational about having 200 hours of 172 or Warrior time. Even an hour or two in differant aircraft will open up you world and experiance greatly.

good ideas.
yeah i am DEFINITELY getting out of ND and heading back to TX when i graduate... i know theres pretty big training schools in both georgetown and san marcos (north and south of austin) so i am looking into them.... i also have other job arrangements in Austin to help fill the gaps on the side.......

my ultimate old-man goal is to have my own amphib somewhere warm and sunny and fly charter/sightseeing/guided tours/snorkeling/light cargo/whatever....

between here and there though, im not too picky, ill take what is available and fits my needs of the moment....

You did good. Does that mean I should take my students to your direction and worship you?
