I've been there, but it was like 6 years ago. As i recall, though, there used to be a really good Cajun restaurant. Ask the FBO when you ask for the car.

I have been a few times. Pretty cool airport to hang out and watch other airplanes plus they have the airliner graveyard and some oddball traffic. As for food, the FBO there has a few courtesy cars and you can go into town which is about a 10 minute drive. I usually hit the subway but there are a few local places to get a bite to eat there too that looked "unique". They also have some alien museums too if you are bored and have time.

I tried looking at pictures from airliners.net and the place looks really cool to tool around. But other than that, there doesn't look like theres much out there. Except the aliens!

The FBO has a soda fountain machine with all the Free Soda you can drink! What more could you ask for?

Ehhhhhh. We can have all the free soda we want on our planes. Toooooo many carbs and sugar. I stick to water. And occasionally treat myself to a Diet Coke.

Aircraft is getting repainted is all I know about the trip. It's a brasilia. I also know that we paint RJ's there aswell.

Yeah me too, but it's about the only perk I can think of in ROW.

That should be in the first post... I mean if it wasn't for that weather balloon, er I mean the crashed spacehip, Roswell would be about as important as Corona.

As I was flying away from there, I couldn't help but think how much it would suck to have to drive to or from there. Ewwww.

Man all those photos of the "stored" 25th Anniversary painted 727's on a.net are kinda sad. Never got to fly on a 727 when I was a kid, always wanted to.

OK so I just got back. We took the max fuel the plane could hold and landed with waaay too much. Dispatch????? That place was cool. I only wish I had more time. I got to walk in through the rear airstair of a UPS B727. It was erie walking through there. I went into the cockpit and it was pitch black because they had covered the windows. And I mean covered. I could barely make out the chair inside there. It was pretty freaky being inside there. I'll try and upload some pics.

Default Roswell

Here are some of the photos:

The last one is of a A320 last week that was parked in our spot in KSAN. It was on a tour across the country and painted in the old PSA colors. I thought it was pretty cool. I had to photograph the smile. Sorry about the quality of pictures. They were taken on my phone. Ericsson T610

How did you get to do out there to the planes in storage? I tried to get one of the security folks to give us a ride out there but he said his boss didn't want them doing that. Also found out that many of the planes there are fully fueled and ready to go, thus the need for so much security.
