"Go to Foxnews.com, Cnn.com, MSNBC.com & they all cover the same type of news, hell they get it from the same serice."

Is there really a difference between any of them?

pilots say they have offered $140 million.. management just won't accept anything lower than they've asked for.

Take a 100$ bill, take it outside, light a match under it, and set it down. Watch it burn. Then, go back inside $100 poorer, just like you'd be if you bought airline stock, but at least having the delight of experiencing the lovely weather outside while your money burned.
I dunno.. now might be the time to start shorting the stock again! (sorta?)

Sorry if I jumped the gun on that one....United is my family! I might not have a family member working there anymore, or even a family member recieving a pension from them directly anymore, but it hits home.

Yes, I remember the threads on shorting stocks....NOT GOOD!

I can't. There is a burn ban here in Oklahoma. I could get fined even more money.

ATA voted >90% to strike, then laid down being the most recent example. Seems lately that the trend has been acquiesance rather than the old "full pay to the last day" gung-ho-men-ship from the union heads.

I'm not saying that the pilots don't want it or won't do it if it happens, because they will, I'm just not sure it'll get to that point.

Based upon???

Shame on me? WTF did I do beyond give up 32.5%-plus of my livelihood to ensure some dorks that are the ones that got us into trouble, walked away with a few million for their gladiator-like efforts?

Am I, personally, the one that threw fare sale after fare sale during ever increasing fuel costs?

Am I, personally, the one that sold off the fuel hedges to fund SERPS?

Am I, personally, the one that pulled off jets with CASM's less than $.10 to put on $0.25-plus CASM jets that passengers had a strong preference against?

HTF do you qualify "shame on both"? Good grief.

Broham, you know I luv ya like my brotha from anotha motha, but that's straight up ridiculous.

This isn't ATA.

Dough, i think chris is referring to the union -> as in they let down the NWA pilots...and ATA pilots...as in the union is the one that decides whether there is or is not a TA they can bow down too...

I think he's referring more to union than to the pilots themselves IMO.

Yeah, I'm saying it's time for us (the pilots) to have that one person that management will be cursing forever, just as us pilots curse Lorenzo. The union head who takes the airlines to the cleaners.

Sabes?

I've seen the same thing in the past too... the union decides to bow down... only this time, i think if they do that, DAL pilots are going to be barking out their ear drums and it wouldn't surprise me if it started rising above the union. after all, the union is supposed to be working for the pilots best interest, not their own...maybe they just need to be reminded, before time runs out, who pays their paychecks too... who knows...

I don't think that will ever happen. No matter what happens, the top execs will come away with a good retirement, and will be running another company in relatively short order.

Well, I just bought some tickets on Delta even after I read all this. My only other option was to fly on Northwest, and I'd rather get stranded than give my money to the pilot group that is willing to strike as opposed to the company that employ's scab mechanics.

It's amazing. We get all over the French as wussies and they protest when people try to take away some of their more ridiculous worker's rights.

Yet on the other hand, we see people here telling people, man, you've got to work with the managers when the managers at Delta have done some serious shafting of their employees.

And then we wonder why we have two weeks vacation here in the US when they've got six weeks over in the states, and why we get shafted time and again by employers.

Seems pretty clear to me with some of the attitudes expressed here. They do it because they can.

After you've been through a half dozen contract negotiations, you learn not to pay much attention until the 11th hour. Then it's like the last 1000' an an approach to mins, with xwinds gusting to 30, and the previous aircraft reporting the braking action as poor.

You know you're going to make a safe exit off the runway...but you definitely take a few extra seconds to adjust the rudder pedals and your seat position because the ride's gonna be rough.

It's the part of being a pro pilot that they don't teach you in school. It's like eating bad mexican food...it eventually passes, but you're none the better for the experience.

I hope this strike happens because the pilots have given up enough in paycuts already. Airline pilot used to be a good career and it's time to bring it back.
