IAF - ITAWT
FAF - ITAWA
MM - PYTAT

Missed approach fixed is IDEED

That explains why we have GOLDI and HAWNN at POC, one is the FAF for the VOR and the other is the FAF for the ILS.

There's a WHINO intersection around DCA. Seeing how DC has just about the highest per capita alcohol consumption in the nation, that's appropriate.

Bonez, on an arrival in LAX, is named after a supe in LA tracon from back in the day.

His nickname was bone's. He was kinda thin.

Another arrival named after a controller is the SNINE arrival into MSP. The guys's name was European of some variety and was nine syllables long, starting with S. Unpronounceable by most, he was called S-Nine by most other controllers.

If you get the SNINE into MSP they might appreciate hearing S-Nine.

Harmon Killebrew - yeah that's more from my generation.

But I always think of a bar in my home town called Killabrew. Drunk memories of college vacation.

In Baltimore we have RIPKN, RAVEN, WHINO, SPLAT, and WOOLY to name a few. SPLAT is a FAF for the ILS 33L @ KBWI and it is always funny to hear this. "Southwest 1082, you are three miles from SPLAT."

I've actually flown that one. It was on the way into Pease ANGB, NH. I think it was the Pudeye 2 arrival. I think the Missed approach point was PUD (Pudeye VORTAC), and the holding fix on the other side was IDEED. Haven't flown it in about 4 years though, I don't even think it's still there.

Not sure that I'd want it though.

DEN has got a SAKIC...

I like the one at Spinks airport in Fort Worth, the IAF is LEON, the FAF is MIKL and that leads you to the airport named SPINKS.

Well the chart is still around!

There's some great fixes near North County, Palm Beach -

ACCID, SPEED, HASHH

I can think of a few reasons why those would be in south FL

Pretty sure it's an approach, however. VOR/GPS or something.

Edit: Found it - http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0603/00678R16.PDF

Wheelsup beat me to it. I also like the other IAF. Direct SATAN, cleared for approach to Portsmouth.

There's GOOFY and MINEE in FL and I was in PIT a few weeks ago and whichever ILS we did had a few fixes named after Willie Stargell. I'm still waiting to get cleared direct DITKA.

DITKA! There is also a BEARZ on the southeast arrival into ORD!

I like POWDR out in Colorado!!

There is a fix in Oklahoma that has a pretty funny meaning (can't remember for the life of me) that controllers will spell out phonetically and not actually say it. If I think of it, I'll be sure to post it. I seem to remember it having to do with parts of the female body
