Default Acey

Apparently that is ASA's new callsign?

It became "candler" when there was a military unit that had a very similar callsign that complained.

How "Gateway" got its name when USA3000 had "Getaway" baffles me considering the ASA deal. Now the real pilots are getting ragged on, and the "others" are using the wrong callsign to avoid the troible.

Default Acey?

I'm assuming it's pronounced A-See? Where does this come from? What does it stand for?

Gateway is GoJets. Getaway is USA3000. I've had to tell a few captains I've flown with to stop transmitting "scab" over the radio everytime Getaway checks on. Acey is pronouced like ASA. They switched to Candler (for Atlanta mayor Asa Candler) due to a military unit having the Acey call sign. The unit was disbanded and ASA went back to the old call sign (although I don't think they were supposed to start until the 15th.)

I've become a staunch advocate for an increase in professionalism of pilots across the board, since I've seen a steady decline of it over the past few years. It seems that all the cuts, concessions, failures, bankrupcies and what not are causing us to get lax. I hear more and more, "They don't pay me enough to..." and it is just getting tiring. I think our own lack of self-respect as pilots is doing a lot of harm to this profession as a whole at the moment, hence my frustration and frequent posts about professionalism.

It is one thing to openly express discontent about these "new scab" pilots at Go-Jets and the Freedom-A pilots, but it is another to tie up a busy frequency with the rhetoric. Save that for the proper channels.

What happened to Candler? I used to be a ramp agent for ASA and I have worked at Hartsfield for two years. I got used to candler. It was taken from Candler field, which was the old name for the airfield that Hartsfield-Jackson Airport sits on

It is also ASA's new callsign as of 3/15. And I just got myself to stop saying "Blue Ridge."
