Essentially, they can give intstruction on 135/121 stuff to company pilots. I don't believe that an ATP could go out and solo a student for the first time at the local flying club. Different question: I'm about ready to go for my ATP checkride. Do I need a CFI who has passed their ATP to endorse me to go for my ATP ride? |

Do you even need a CFI endorsement at all if you meet the minimum requirements?

My check airman that did my Be-1900 type rating/ATP checkride is on the forum, perhaps he'll chime in and kick us down some knowledge!

Had an old flight isntructor buddy of mine that got his private and instrument from an ATP with no actual CFI/CFII. When the FSDO found out about it they let him keep his certificates since he was a working CFI but the other students who were just private/commercial/instrument had thier certificates revoked.

No endorsement at all is required to take the ATP practical. Just make sure that you meet the requirements, pass the written, fill out an 8710 and take the test!!!

Ooops, my bad. 61.39 (c) (3). Looks like I'm okay to take the test without an endorsement. Now, if I could just find what V1 and V2 are in a Duchess... (sarcasm)

as for your ATP checkride, you don't have to do any training or get any endorsement. An examiner that we used at my flight school asked me a question one day and he said, " I owe you one". I said "how bout a discount on a checkride". He had time that day and I had the written done, so I figured what the hell. For 150 bucks, I got it done....not a bad deal.......
