Does anyone fly out of Chino airport? I use to rent an aircraft from Makarion Flight Institute, I know they don’t have the best program for the money. But they do have nice piper Cherokee’s that are really nice and I know there maintenance facility is really good there. But I have been trying to get a hold of them to rent an airplane and I haven’t got anyone since Jan. 1. I know they are closing down for maintenance but I’ve heard a rumor they might have shut their doors. Just checking to see if anyone has heard or seen anything from that part of the Chino Airport. Thanks |

Also on that note, does anyone know where to rent out any Piper Cherokee's in SoCal, Orange County Area, that is pretty descent on pricing? I can fly the Cessna if need be, but looking to take a couple buddies up in the cherokee thanks again for the help |

There's a 68' Cherokee six 300 for a buck twenty five an hour ($125.00) at South Bay Aviation in KTOA. And AIA flight in Chino has a Piper Arrow for $120/hr and a Piper Warrior II for $85/hr. As far as Pipers go, those are the only ones I know of in the LA basin.

I fly out of the place right next to it, AIA flight. We here alot of crap going on at Makarion, so if they are closing - it's not surprising. I know that we have an Arrow and a Warrior. They're upkept very good too. Dont let the dirtiness get to you. Maintained really good!

Yeah, Makarion is done. Many students are out big cash, and AZ attorney general is in the process of filing criminal charges. ADP is in there now, and you can get Arrow III for 90 bucks. (Archers for 80)

that's crazy, i talked with the asst. chief pilot right before the x-mas break, Mick Horne was his name. He said they would be 'closing down' for maintinance and be back up on the 2nd of January. That's crazy, but i'm pretty sure that's bound to happen in this industry. There doesn't seem to be anything on their website www.mia2fly.com this must have just happened. i think they wanted $80k for the entire program. I looked into their program, they are the ones that had the guy in the pilot uniform next to an aircraft, might have been a 747, not sure. that's too bad for them. I called AIA today, they have a warrior or i think it was an archer for $84 to $94 plus $7 gas. I need to speak with Jeff and he will tell me what the requirements are to rent from them, they said Makarion planes were parked by the tower with no engines...i guess they went bankrupt. aw well they will come and go |
