Tony man you are harsh! I would say FLYi's business model was "risky" for sure.

As for having an airline shut down and having no job? Deja vu. "Welcome to my Nightmare" Talk to Eastern, PanAm, Midway, Braniff, Vanguard, etc.

It's a pretty rare pro pilot who hasn't had an airline shut down on them, or at least been furloughed once or twice.

Warning! Those that haven't should be very careful not to brag about it, lest Fate cast an Eye in Their General Direction!

Just the facts.

You've got a high CASM airplane, and then you're charging low fares for seats on them. And still, a lot of those flights are going out with lots of empty seats.

Add in one pissed off competitor in United -- you think it was a coincidence that Ted does a lot of flying out of IAD?

Sure, they'll blame fuel costs for the demise of FlyI, but that only sped up the inevitable.

Default I Don't know crap about the BP

HOwever, I know I enjoyed flying on them while they existed. Even though they weren't always the ceapest. i tried to go with them when reasonable. They had great service and were fun to fly. There marketting department sucked.

I don't know why you couldn't book a flight with Expedia or Travelocity for them. They ran zero TV commercials that I know of in my area. Very few billboards. If you are onbly going to sell tickets yourself, you really got to market your company I would think.

PS was DaveTheFlyer still working there?

Hey everybody, first post here. Great website!

I heard a rumor that Air Wisconsin is picking up a lot of the FlyI guys just as they closed their doors...anyone know the truth to this? Seems like a good deed is being done if you ask me...

Also, I'm not sure if this was mentioned but I heard SWA is giving free tickets to any pax with a FlyI ticket. Some good things there.
