| I very recently received a non-rev ticket on delta and have never used one before. My question is....though I still have to pay a small percentage; am I still flying standby? Thanks for the input. ![]() |

| Moderator | If someone gave you a 'buddy pass' or, in your case, an S4 on Delta, you are most decidedly standby. Bottom of the barrel standby. |

| Sounds like an adventure...is there any way to check the average load to see my chances? |

[/ QUOTE ] Not really, but you can ask the person who gave you the ticket to check the loads for you. also, I do know some people that check loads by pretending to buy a ticket online (i.e orbitz or airlines' own website) and find the flight you want and click on the "choose seat" option and see how many open seats there are. I dont know how accurate it is, but people who do it say its pretty close. |

| Is there a scheduling number on the pass? You could call it to see who is listed and your chances of getting on. But make sure you ask if they are busy as they will be more likley to help you if they don't have about 800 things to do. |

| Big Chief's Woman | yes, there are ways to check loads, but you never know how it's going to be until the day of - there's no way to check "average" loads like from last year or what not, it's just on a day by day basis... but the only way to get them is to have the person who gave you the pass help you out.. other DAL personnel can't unless they know you personally (it's a safety issue)... whenever we give someone we know and/or like a pass, i always help them along on the day of flight because otherwise, the person non-revving might not understand what the process is or how to handles onesself in a stressful situation such as standby travel (or as we tend to call it - strandby). and the last thing we want to do is lose pass priveledges due to something happening between the pass holder and delta agents or what not. did your buddy give you a number to call in order to check loads or what not? if anything, you can call reservations (regular reservations) and tell them your a buddy pass rider and ask them about the loads - but only do that after 5pm!!!!! before 5pm, they're very busy with revenue pax and most likely will tell you to call after 5 anyways. do yourself a favor & ask your buddy to help you out. |

Some of the seats that are showing available may have been booked by unconfirmed purchaser or simply not been assigned. |

| Big Chief's Woman | I wouldn't say it's difficult/risky.. especially if you know how to play the game and you know ahead of time what to expect...it's been known to throw a few people off kilter which is why we suggest having your buddy be your "informant", it takes a little of the stress off of you. |
