| Today I was flying back to northern Arkansas from Mississippi and heard on 121.5 several transmissions from an Air Force AWACS plane over New Orleans calling another aircraft that had entered a restricted area. He was about 15 miles from the Harvey VORTAC, at altitudes from 100 to 300 feet. He was told "you are inside a restricted area! Vector South!". After several of these calls, American 267 told the Air Force to try New Orleans tower freq. I wonder how long it will take for this to make the news.....btw, why is there a restricted area down there now? Is the president down there? ![]() |

| I rarely listen to 121.5, and never did when I was flying around in GA aircraft. Kinda glad I didn't. I've heard some of the most unprofessional stuff on that freq. Sometimes it sounded like a handful of 5th graders arguing over whose Trapper Keeper was the best. Sad. Very sad. |

| Agent Smith | Whenever I monitor 121.5 it's: "Deltona traffic, Cessna 219 foxtrot zulu, left base, 24..." "You're on GUAAAAAAARD..." or "Signature, Citation 1234 charlie in range, lookin' for a quickturn....DOH" "You're on GUAAAAAAARD..." or, in Washington Center: "Aircraft two zero miles southeast of Armel VORTAC, you are approaching restricted airspace, turn immediately south....repeat...aircraft two zero miles..." |

| Last night on Guard 243.0 was "Unknown rider vicinity Anyang 290 35, angels 23 eastbound, you are inside Romeo-111 and approaching Papa 73 Bravo. Turn south immediately or you will be fired upon in 10 miles. Advise reciept with ident." Doh. It's the same as years ago when I was tooling around south of the DMZ checking out the terrain, and the ROKAF controller comes up on guard to tell me that I'm getting too close to the DMZ buffer line and to turn southeast immediately, at the same exact time the RHAW gear registers an SA-2 target tracker (not just target scanning) lock-on from across the line to the north. Doh! Roll it over inverted and pull it down behind the hills as I swing south. Last thing I need is a flying telephone pole surprise. Learned my lesson.........they're always watching. ![]() |

| [ QUOTE ] Well, last I heard we're merely at a truce! [/ QUOTE ] That doesn't keep them from screwing with you at any given opportunity. Remember a couple years back the USAF RC-135 that was intercepted by NKAF MiG-29s about 200 miles offshore? Complete surprise that we didn't see coming.......RC crew didn't know they were there until the MiGs formed up on them and they started receiving RHAW hits. Here's the Benson cartoon about it: ![]() |

| Agent Smith | Totally forgot about that! One of my friends was telling me about a guy he knew that was performing 'atmospheric research' a little north of the parallel in the U-2. He said how his friend could notice a discernable line, at night, between S. Korea and N. Korea. It's like all of the bright lights stopped at the border and virtual complete darkness north of the border. |

At night, in the Hog that was the easiest way to determine where the border was. Lights simply stop further north. |

| Old Skool | You ain't kidding about the DC airspace and guard. Seems like just about every transmission I hear on guard has the following phrase in it: "This is the United States Air Force. Suggest immediate turn to..." |
