I love original Lear 23/24s. Especially with the straight-turbojet CJ-610 engines that were thunderously loud....

especially when departing SDL at 0500........

Very loud and very thirsty. Could hardly go anywhere without it being a fuel emergency. And when I was on a Jet Commander (same engines) I spent too much time reminding the captain what our fuel reserves and alternate airport options were (ususally zero and none). Lots of fun.

LOL.......just like a typical fighter jet.....always fuel critical.

How about the old GE J60s that the early Sabreliner series used? Another noisy mother!

You could get a type rating with just a private licence if you wanted to, and yes I've heard of it happening. But heck, what good is a jet if you can only fly VFR. Insurance would be astronomical too I imagaine.

That's right! It did have those 4 small, noisy engines on the older versions.

Forgot about that one.
