I just saw it on the news. Thought it was interesting because they said the kid has never been in a cockpit before he stole the plane and took off. Here is the link

That is a lot of skill and knowledge to have at 14 . You got to hand it to the kid, that was amazing. ![]()

Interesting story. The kid obviously knew his way around a 152. And what 152 is worth 35K, crap, mine is an aerobat with a Garmin 430 and I figure it's worth 30K. I'd say the kid was way above the flight sim level. I think this kid could be a great addition to jetcareers, anyone have any connections to juvy in Fort Payne, AL?

I have to say - that is quite impressive even if it was against the law.

Let him practice some approaches in flight sim and I'm sure he'll be shooting an ILS.

Wow 2 takeoffs and landings in the dark despite having never flown? ![]() I find it almost impossible to believe but I guess it's true. I wonder if someone gave him a ride once and let him get familiar with the 152. The very first time I got in a cockpit, I didn't know which was throttle and which was the mixture, let alone start it up, in the dark!!! Mahesh

| Old Skool | Can you become a pro pilot with a felony conviction? Anyone hear charges that might be placed against him? |

He could be lying about flying around. He may have just been taxiing around and the only real takeoff attempt was the one he crashed on.

lol... am I the only one really not impressed at all by an idiot teenager? And yeah, as Brian said, the only one who says he flew was the kid himself. He took off and landed in 5 minutes?

Quote "I think this kid should think about becoming a professional pilot!" Yeah! But not for a while. But look at the bright side. He is only 14 and in 10 years he can actually be one and this incident will most likely be out of his record by then.

At least it was a 152, not a jet or something bigger.

I guess I just don't get it. I wouldn't be interested in flying with someone who stole a plane and crashed it.

| Senior Member | Yeah, not so much. They're talking about charging him with a felony, that never goes away from your record! Even as a juvenile, where records often get expunged or sealed, I'm not sure a felony like that will disappear when he turns 18. Hopefully for his sake it will, I'm sure most of us made stupid mistakes when we were young (though this one is just a little bit larger than any I made!). |

FBI background check will find that F#$%^ up!!! People are giving this kid props for nothing. He made 2 landings, who gives a [censored]. The second was a crash, and the first one probably was a [censored] landing, if it was a landing at all..
