I'm looking to buy a headset, and I need some advice from you pros! I'm willing to spend up to approximately $300. The most important thing to me is comfort. I find that the cheapo sets at my FBO are very uncomfortable on my ears and head. What would you guys suggest? |

You might want to do a search on "headsets", as there have been many a thread on the subject...

I personally find David Clark to be very comfortable. And for your budget, I think 13.4 will do a fine job. That's just me |

That's just me [/ QUOTE ] ![]() I purchased my first headset about 5 months ago- a David Clark 13.4 and I absolutely love it. Really comfortable and the quality all-around is excellent. I would definitely recommend it or any other headset in the DC family. Before I purchased my own, I used to borrow from my school and although they weren't 13.4s they were still DCs and I found them to be very good. If you go with a DC you won't be disappointed. |

<Disclaimer: DC headsets may not fit all head sizes and shapes. DC makes no guarantee for comfort. DC in no way infers that they are the best as far as customer service nor are they the only headset on the market. Your milage may vary. Some restrictions may apply.> Had to throw that out before the DC haters show up. |

love my Bose, but for $300 the DC's rule. I don't personally like to wear DC's as they don't fit me well, but I wish they did. The DC's build quality is incredible.

If you can score those denali ANRs, I would totally recommend them. I loved them. I also had a pair of Lightspeed 20xl2. those are nice for the price. Try spending just a little bit more for the anr if you can afford it. they truly make a difference. I once borrowed a pair of DC 13.4 and I was quite impressed. here is what i would suggest. get the denalis from the previous post. if not and dont want to spend over the 300 budget, you'll be very happy with the 13.4 as long as they arent too tight on your head.

go ANR, hearing aids are no fun. Decent used ANR sets on ebay can be had for 300 bucks easily. Just stick with major manufacturers, DC, LightSpeed, Peltor, and Telex all make good quality sets.

Try before you buy - try as many types as possible and find the one that fits best. Light weight will probably help in the comfort department. I used a passive Peltor headset for years, then a Sennheiser for a few more. Very light and comfy on me, especially with the Oregon Aero ear seals, and they ran around $300 +/- if I remember right. I am a "DC hater" but I won't go into that. Find the headset that fits YOU best. |

Honestly...nothing will compare to the bose. MAYBE the Lightspeed 33-G. DC's ANR is pitiful. (my opinion only) |

[/ QUOTE ] As noted, find a set that you really like from a comfort standpoint and then check this site out: Headsets, Inc. They have an ANR aftermarket kit that works great (in my opinion). I had one installed in my helmet when they first came out and I've been quite pleased with it. Not sure how it compares to the Bose but I'd think it would be at least in the ballpark quality-wise. And CERTAINLY a lot cheaper. But I'll tell you what dagnabbit. You youngsters today are so spoiled. Yep, I can remember back in the good old days when ANR was just so much science fiction. Back then we used to put rocks in our ears to deaden the sound. And we were damn glad to have them too. But it always kinda annoyed me. Some guys bought their rocks at Sporty's and they'd never let the rest of us forget it. They thought they were better'n everyone else 'cause most of us got our rocks off'n the road. Ah, good times.... |

Cause then, if someone said I had rocks in my head, I could say, yeah, man, gotta keep the engine noise out of it! |
