In short, those terms are in regards to the FAR's and what requirements each "Part" details.

http://www.gofir.com/fars/

These numbers refer to the section of the Federal Aviation Regulations that covers the operation. Part 61 and 141 have to do with regulation covering flight training. 121 and 135 have to do with commercial, charter, on-demand, scheduled airline operations, etc.

Just click that link, or refer to your copy of the FAR's.

Yes, welcome! So have you solo'd yet? Where are you doing your flight training, and is it part 61 or 141?

I just realized your member number is the same as my work address... stop reminding me I'm at work!

Like everyone said, when sombody references a number ie 141 they are refering to the section in the FARs (the regs) that govern that specific type of flying.

Part 61- Basic type of regs covering pilot certificates (hour requirements etc.
Part 141- Regs for certain types of flight schools which grant pilot certificates.
Part 121- Regs for scheduled air carriers ie (Delta, Continental, etc)
Part 135- Regs for charter operations also known as "on demand."

Hope that helps

Right on!!...Thanks everyone for the help!!!

as far as the member ID, i'm not too sure of....lol

Right now I am attending Makarion in Chino, but just by reading the other post, I think I am getting ripped off. They have new pipers, but it's a little pricey.

I soloed on Saturday the 14th. Went up with the instructor did 3 t-n-go's then it was me all by myself. Talk about a rush!!!! I was grinning ear to ear

Once you get your ratings I think CFI(?) you can teach at a school right? what determines if you are going 121 or 135? Can you pick? From what everyone has been telling me it's all about who you know. And I still have a while to go, hopefully I can meet a lot of people and make good connections.

Part 133? You mean there's a Part 133?

Well now, if that don't just beat all.

Next thing you know they'll be trying to get rid of TCA's and live wx briefs. As if that's ever gonna happen.

But now 137, hey, there's a piece of work. It, well, it just gets me right there, know what I mean? Give me Part 137 and a Control Zone any day and I'll just be peachy.
