Default NORAD\'s DC Laser

Anyone got things they want me to tell a reporter from the Washington Post? I'll be identified as a local pilot.

And don't say stuff like, it sucks. I'm not getting my name put in the paper with that kind of commentary.

I've got an image to uphold, you know?

LOL. The interview's over. Anyway, I said two things. First, if it's supposed to be a warning system, then how about using it to actually WARN pilots instead of only using it after they have busted the ADIZ or FRZ?

Second, why target GA aircraft, since they had absolutely nothing to do with September 11 and a Hummer can do more damage than a single engine Cessna.

They also asked me if I thought the feds were doing a good job of informing people about this. I said that they are.

I heard the reporter typing away when I was talking, so I think they'll get it right. I sure hope so.

How did the Post find you and know you were a pilot?

The reporter knows someone who I know. It's kind of reverse networking, I guess.

Now let's hope I don't piss off all of the other pilots in the mid-Atlantic area with what I said.

[/ QUOTE ]Having been a "victim" of a reporter taking quotes out of context, I would say, "yeah, right."

More likely it'll be like this:

Tonyw, a local pilot, was asked if he knew about NORAD's new DC Laser. "Yeah, its supposed to be a warning system." he replied. With recent news reports of lasers in the cockpit, Tonyw believes that the government could use this laser to "target GA aircraft." He says that the laser would be better served at disabling all the Hummer and SUV drivers out there since in his plans and calculations those would cause more terror and make better ordnance delivery vehicles than small planes.

Hope not. I'll be getting a visit from some federales if they quote me like that. And I might not be posting for a long, long, time.

Some of you would like that, I'm sure.
