| Old Skool | Well, they FINALLY updated the website with tons of details. Looks like the Tunica Air Races are actually going to happen! Tunica is a little hick town (or used to be) in Mississippi about twenty or so minutes south of Memphis, TN. It's more or less become a wanna be Vegas since it's all casinos and nothing else but an uncontrolled airfield. Well, that uncontrolled airfield is gonna be the site of unlimited class air racing in June. That's right, P-51s and Sea Furies roaring around pylons ala Reno, NV. Some of the competitors are the same, too. Voodoo has already signed on, and negotiations are continuing to get Miss America and Strega there. In addition to the Unlimiteds they're also racing a T-6 class and a Formula I (kit build) class. Plenty of vendor booths around as well, static aircraft displays and air show stuff in between the races. Here's the link: http://www.tunicaairraces.com/ I'm going even if I have to fly a Skymates seminole back for a day or two. Not sure which day I'll be there, but probably the finals on Sunday. My parents really want to go, and this has been slated as Gavin's first airplane experience. ![]() |

| Old Skool | I've got single engine time to build about then, Steve, and it's only four hours away from Arlington in a 172. Want to split the costs and do it? |

| Old Skool | Deal. Single engine it is unless we both have our ME ratings by then. You heading down in May or June? |

| Old Skool | I get there June 1st, say I'm current for everything I need to do by the 3rd and we can leave that day. It'll be a good brushup after getting an IPC done. |

| Old Skool | Dude, it's possible I might be close to done by then. We could do your IPC enroute since I should (if the planets align) have my CFI-I by then. Either that or we could take a Seminole if I have my MEI and get you jump started. |

| That's AWESOME! Whenever you combine airplanes and nitrous oxide, it's a very good thing. ![]() I have never been to Reno, but it's high on the list of cool things to do when I have a chance. What is so amazing, is that all these planes and engines are 60 years old! There has been much areodynamic cleanup to reduce drag. At one point, some of the engines were putting out twice their rated Hp. But they are still WW2 planes. |

| Old Skool | Yeah, we already have an outfit picked out for Gavin and labled "air racing day." We're getting the pit passes for me, my brother and my dad. I'm guessing they won't charge for Gavin, and none of the women folk care about getting up close and personal. |
