| Old Skool | Korean Air signs $1.3 bln deal for 10 Boeing 787s http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=8136446 Looks like Air India is going to place an order as well: The report, forwarded for A-I board approval, says the airline’s high-powered committee has chosen a mix of eight Boeing 737-200LR (long range), 15 Boeing 777-300ER and 27 Boeing 7E7-8 planes. The total acquisition would cost a whopping Rs 51,637.29 crore — which is over three times the order size of sister carrier Indian Airlines. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...ow/1073897.cms |

| [ QUOTE ] the airline’s high-powered committee has chosen a mix of eight Boeing 737-200LR (long range), 15 Boeing 777-300ER and 27 Boeing 7E7-8 planes. [/ QUOTE ] The committee may be high powered but thier planes will not be if they are buying 737-200s. I am guessing that got lost in translation and they mean 737-800s or maybe that new 777 they just unveiled recently, the 777-200LR? Either way score for Boeing! They may not be getting all the pub in the press with the monster Airbus is building but I think they will be getting alot more sales and that is where it counts. And if they did manage to sell 737-200s, score even more for they have some great salesmen! ![]() |

| Senior Member | Who cares? The 787 is a regional jet. "Airbus's A350 will compete with Boeing's newest offering, the 787 "Dreamliner," a regional jet. " http://edition.cnn.com/2005/BUSINESS...eut/index.html |

| A.net has posted that Flight International is reporting that Northwest is set to announce a 787 order. What a coup if that turns out to be true as NW is an A330 operator and didn't opt for the new A350. I hope it's true but I won't beleive it until I see the PR from Boeing or Northwest. |

I'd want a totally new design from the ground up...sides NWA needs to get more Boeing equipment on property. Remember buy American unless it's an electronic device or a car! -Matthew |

| Old Skool | Well, I saw the article title "787 defeats A350 at Northwest" in the 4/12/2005 issue. Seeing as I don't have a subsciption, I can't paste the article. At least it's more than just an A.net rumot. ![]() |

| [ QUOTE ] Actually, this is a little off-topic but Kristie's BMW is more "American-made" than my knobless Pontiac Gran Am! [/ QUOTE ] lol. I checked the sticker it said BMW's are 60 percent german about 30 or so Austrian and the other percetange Us canadian. VW's transmissions are made in Japan, part of it is made in mexico, another percent is US/Canadian, then the rest german and yugoslavian. Mercedes is 85 percent german and 15 percent other 0 percent US/Canadian. |

[/ QUOTE ] Really...thought that thing was made in Bravia or somewhere in Germany. But I guess with this new global economy you have American companies purchasing foreign automakers. Japanese/German cars being made in America, sharing American parts but a foreign badge on the hood! -Matthew |
