Default Alteon targeting flight simmers?

So I was at the flightsim.com forums and noticed the following ad on the top:

So Mike, do they offer this anywhere here in South FL?

Brian

Long Beach is the only one that really has an active simulator ride program, but, I can check for you if you are interested?

So far a large percentage of the people for the simulator rides are the Microft Simulator crowd, so, I thought it would be a good idea to run a banner ad on flightsim.com. I am also talking with the people from
www.avsim about their San Diego convention and how Alteon can be a part of it.

From a marketing standpoint, it makes a lot of sense, especially considering the success of ATOPS.

Has anyone tried this? Is it worth it? Are they full motion?

hope I didn't say anything arrogant, or insulting

Thanks to Network JC and Mpenguin, I have an hour of MD-11 sim time that I need to get out there and use. Yeah, they're full motion.

These are the real deals. The kind of sims you walk over a catwalk/bridge to get into to and since it is full motion raise the catwalk/bridge before start.

What a/c type is this for, or does it just depend on their scheduling for whatever day you go?

Might have to slip this link to the wife and casually suggest it as a birthday/Christmas present and just add a day to a work trip in LA.

Brian, I'm not sure if it is still around, but at MIA Pan Am has/had a huge building on the north side of the field that has like 10 or so sims. Last time I was there was before 9-11 but I got to fly a 747, 707, and 727. I don't know where else I can fly a full motion sim under the Golden Gate Bridge, and a minute later shoot an ILS approach into JFK.

If they still allow non-commercial pilots to fly them, be prepared to drop serious $$ for a few hours. So take the flight to LGB, you'll never forget flying those birds. I mothballed MS Flight Sim for a good 6 months after that.

I did part of my 727 flight engineer training at Pan Am in MIA. Lots of fun as we'd 'fly' from about 8pm to 12am, go back to the hotel goof around next door at the Coconut Grove bar/restaraunt area across the street, sleep in late, brief by the pool, hop in a van back to the training center and do it all over again.

"Oh yeah hon, the training is really intense down here in Miami! Jack and I just hit the books all day, fly all night, just wiped out."

We gave out a bunch of simulator time at Alteon in LGB at NetworkJC last year, but I'm not sure if anyone's actually made it out to use it yet.

Doug, is it still there, and is it still Pan Am's? Do they still have that giant 747 cutout model in the lobby?

I love how bare the place was, yet so special. When I first went there it was a present for my 13th birthday. I had no clue what the place was becuase there was really no "signage" anywhere (from what I remember). However once I started walking down that long narrow hallway with each door labled "747" "727", etc. I knew I was in for a treat.

Granted it was back in 1998, but they had a 747 cutout downstairs that was pretty cool. I think they also had a 'link trainer' on display downstairs as well.
