Default How was your day?

So, my Dad and I headed out to go skiing in Utah last Wedensday. Getting out to SLC was uneventful and everything went as planned. We went CLE-ATL-SLC. Yesturday, we were scheduled to fly from SLC-LIT-CVG-CLE. Well the SLC-LIT leg left 30 minutes late, but otherwise un-eventful. When we arrived in LIT we had 25 minutes to get to our flight to CVG. My dad and I checked the flight board and saw our flight was cancelled . The Delta ticket agent gave us "coupons" for tickets on Northwest. We went to the northwest gate and waited for 1 1/2 hours before the ticket agent showed up. He booked us on the 25 minute flight to Memphis and that flight was only half full.

Arrived in Memphis and walked around, went into the PGA store and went to our gate. Waited 2 hours. The ticket agent showed up and my dad asked if we could have exit row seats, becasue he is 6' 5''. The agent said no because she didn't belive I was 15(even though i'm really almost 15. So the agent put me and my dad in the first row in the CRJ-200.

The flight from Memphis to Cleveland was un-eventful and it was clear at night, so we could see all the major cities along the way. The F/A started talking to me and my dad and my dad said I wanted to be a pilot. The F/A siad really, when we land he can go talk to the pilots.

So like she said, I went up to the cockpit a minute or two after we arrived at the gate. We talked, i watched them shut down and fill out all the log-books. The FO gave me the flight plan paper with all the weigts and such. I don't know if it the flight plan, but it's the paper that the pilots get before pushback that is about 20 pages long. So I got that and my dad and I were off to baggage claim.

My dad told me to go get the ski bag and as I was getting it a lady approched me. She was like "What is that" (refering to the flight plan i had folded real small, holding it in my hand). I was like, I dunno. She goes "Yes you do." I said, "know I don't, the pilot gave it to me." She says "This is a flight plan, these aren't supposed to be in the publics hands. Are you thinking about being a pilot?"
I say, "yes"
She says "oh, would you mind if i take this from you?"
I said, "umm yes kinda"
She says " well it's supposed to be classified, nad you shouldn't have this."
Me: "well, the pilot gave it to me."
She says: "I don't belive he gave it to you"
Me: "well he did"
(Now i just saw the employee badge on her shirt and she was a ticket agent.
Me; Well i have to go now, my dad is waiting, can I have the paper back?"
Her: "No, it is classified"
Me "well, okay, alright"
Her: "Sorry"

So, does a ticket agent have this kind of athority? Could the agent have told somebody at PInnacle Airlink about the pilot? If she did, what can happen to the pilot? The pilots were nice, and I hope that they don't go on probation or something.

So were got in at CLE at 10:40. We were supposed to get in at 7:40.

On top of that, my mom and my sisters were stuck in (for over 24 hrs) ATL because of mechanical problems. They were visiting my cousins in ATL. So they were supposed to leave at 2 pm yesturaday, now they will leave at 4 or 5 pm today.

So, how was your day?

Classified? That's interesting. I highly doubt it's classified, but I don't know anything about what Pinnacle self-defines as proprietary.

But the FAA doesn't care I'm sure.

First, I don't think the pilots would or could get in trouble for that. So don't worry about that.

Believe it or not, there is some stuff on the release and wx packet that should not be public knowledge. I won't say what it is, it's often overlooked information that even I forgot about. At first I thought the ticket agent was nuts and started a reply to that end. Then I realized, "Oh yeah, such-and-such is included at the bottom."

Though in this case, I'm confident that the crew removed any sensitive information before giving you the release.

For what it's worth, the weather packet and release are amazingly boring.

I can't believe that. Waaaaaay too much paranoia today.

I had a deadheading PNCL Capt. give me one of his flight plan sheets... right on the airplane in plain view of everyone around us. No one cared. No one should care.

What a b*tch!

Perhaps I need to change my response a little. If the pilots gave you a flight plan and another company employee instructs you to give it back, right or wrong, just give it back.

Anything that could be 'classified' normally isn't divulged to pilots anyway. There's an interesting story about 9/11 and divulging information to pilots that I have, but I'll save that for another time.

Once I went up to the flight deck adter the flight because I knew the F/O and he gave me the flight plan and weight and balance. I was in CLT connecting to Cancun. And while inflight to Cancun, I pulled it out and looked at it. Nobody said a word to me and we were even in Intl. airspace. Grant- tough luck. (maybe the trick was that I put it in my bag)

Just be thankful you didn't have to go through atlanta two nights ago .

Also this paranoia is hilarious. I have a small collection of used flight strips I've gotten at a Center among other places with no trouble.

For the book.........

As other people have said - it is incredibly boring. The best thing I got given from a pilot was the training CD for the 777 - that is super cool!! Probably not something you can easily get your hands on these days though!

It has been a while since I worked on the ramp, but I do think there is a line on there about the information being confidential. That was for United Express companies, anyways.

It would kind of make sense. The dispatch phone numbers, etc. are on there. If it fell in to the wrong hands, (Grant excluded), then people would be bugging the fire out of them. "What? Weather delay? Well, I have the phone number to XXX Corporate Here."

or I am just crazy.... Either way, sorry to hear about it Grant.

My company has as us put our flight papers in a special envelope and it gets sent back to headquarters. I'm sure they employ a crack team of flight paper checkers to make sure it's all there. It's so silly but the FAA does audit the paperwork once in a while. There is nothing in the flight papers that is classified. It's got your route, flight plan, weather, notams, ect. There is nothing in there that can't be found on the web.

As far as Pinnacle's post flight paperwork policy, you'd have to ask PeanucleCRJ. But if the pilot gave it to you, the gate agent was a dweeb for taking it. It's too bad you couldn't have had her escort you down the jetway and personally check with the pilot.

You should have told her you'd trade it for a first class upgrade or a pass to the lounge if she wants it back that bad.
