My job happens to be corporate. I am not the only SIC for them, but I was told to expect to fly at least two days per week. Yesterday we got 4.9 hours in, and tomorrow I'll have a long trip.

No real checkride for me. Just an interview...and then right into the airplane a few days later!

One question I do have is...

the chief pilot who I fly with has told me to log the time as turboprop experience....but not to put it all under TT, as he's heard some airlines have been cracking down on it lately. He did say I will be able to log certain times, i.e., when he is 'instructing' me, etc.

But regardless, will the turboprop 'experience' time look very favorable to an employer?

I'd be careful how you log the time, you're right that airlines are looking for shady time.

The basic rule I always use is this: If you're the FO and the aircraft cannot legally leave without you, you can log SIC. If the aircraft can legally leave without you, you can not log SIC. You might be able to log PIC if you are appropriately rated and endorsed, but that opens up a minefield for future job interviews. It sounds like you are flying part 91, so I doubt you can log SIC.

Logging lots of turbine experience under the dual given column also looks questionable.

I flew an MU-2 for a while in a similar situation, and ended up not logging most of the time at all. The few hours I did log generated some questions in my interview at XJT, and I was fortunate to give reasonable answers.

The only way I can see logging it is IF you are "sole manipulator." What kind of plane is this again (I'm too lazy to go back and look)? If it's one of the smaller King Airs that only requires one pilot and it's not a 135 gig, then there is NO SIC, no matter what anyone else says.

Okay, johnnyb. How exactly would you log right seat time in a non-135 King Air 90 that is certified for only one pilot as SIC?

Never claimed to be the "sole authority" on anything, BTW.
