| Old Skool | [ QUOTE ] How does that joke go about making a small fortune in the airline business? [/ QUOTE ] Start with a big one. And if you want to make a million bucks in the airline industry, start with a billion. |

| How do you make a small fortune in the aviation buisness? Start with a large fortune, and wait a little while. |

| Agent Smith | All I know, is that if I had the capital to start an airline, I'd much rather be safely passed out on a yacht anchored outside of Nice listening to the empty bottles of Veuve-Cliquot roll back and forth on the deck. |

| True. He may be OK is he really knows his market and sticks to it. I've seen many good little companies expire after many successful years because they decided they needed to be bigger. |

[/ QUOTE ] I was around to see the start-up of most of the regional "giants." Basically just some guys with some Navajos or 401 Cessnas or Metroliners who were in the right place at the right time. |

| This came up a little while ago on another thread. http://jetcareers.com/forums/showfla...o=&fpart=1 Sounds like an idea, but I like Dougs take on it. Forget about the 757's, by yourself a cub on floats, and a small island, and lots of.... |

| Agent Smith | I'd buy a turbine otter, base it up in Alaska and only fly it around when the cruise ships came into port. The rest of the time I'd be passed out on my boat. "Donatella! Hey! Donatella! Keep down that racket! Yeah yeah, you suck too! Versace sucks! You're bringing down the property value of my boat slip!" |

| Theres hardly a large enough population base in Rochester that would lead to a profit IMO. Where's the dude gonna get the pax? Cart 'em in from the Twin Cities and Chicago? Doubt it... |

| [ QUOTE ] There’s hardly a large enough population base in Rochester that would lead to a profit IMO. Where's the dude gonna get the pax? Cart 'em in from the Twin Cities and Chicago? Doubt it... [/ QUOTE ] That’s a hell of an idea. Lets get some 57s for the long hull and then we can get a couple of "little jets" to hull people into this crap hole town to fill up the big planes. Then we can have the little planes do 4 legs to bring people back and forth between this crap hole and another. Of course we will initially pay a good rate for the 57 pilots while we ###### on the little plane pilot, then we will ask for concessions from the 57 pilots cause gas costs to much, so we need to take it out of the pilots @$$. Honestly, we can’t fly without gas, but we can sure underpay our pilots!!! Then once those concessions go through we will ensure that the little plane pilots will never complain, even though they are based in Nowhere, USA and drive a 88 Buick to the airport while eating their only meal for the day...Soup in a cup ![]() I do hope these youngsters have enough good ideas to make this different from everyone else. And I commend their ambition, and wish them luck. |
