Okay granted I don't totally understand how it works at Southwest, but don't you have to pay for a type rating to work there?

[/ QUOTE ]

Here's the deal with SWA. You don't need the type to get the interview, but if offered the job, you'll need it before you start training. Do you have to pay for it? As Doug pointed out, not necessarily. I'm sure there are plenty of ex-US Air captains that are now at SWA that have 737 types. If you'r enot lucky enough to be in that position, you'll have to shell out the cash of the type. Major difference is you don't shell out the cash to Southwest, but to whoever you get the type rating with. That could be Flight Safety or any other training company.

I have some friends who work for USA3000 out of ORD. They are still going strong from what I understand. Lots of pilot bases.

Southwest doesn't officially require the 737 type to get the job. But, if you don't have it, you won't get a call.

Just a realist! Way better chances of flying a G-IV than 'yadda yadda yadda", ya know?

I love the G-IV, got to jumpseat on one when I was at about 6 hours, so I am a little biased.

Only 5 windows on the side and those engines look kinda small. Are we sure that's a G-IV?

Anyone have a link to a BIG version of that picture? I'm solely interested in the photographic aspects of the shot, i.e. the lighting, arrangement, etc.

After taking a second look, I'm going to have to side with you, Bog, and guess that to be a 200.

I'm reminded of the movie where Gene Hackman says to Bette Midler, "Nice necklace Doris!"
