Well today I'm deadheading to DFW for training, and I'm in ATL on a layover. I go to grab some sustinance from the B-Concourse at about 11:30 or so and low and behold, there is ole' Doug. I decided against the desperate shout of "Doouuuuuuuuuugggggg!" You were on the phone anyway.... Anywho...if you saw the ratty looking freight dawg with the blue uniform....that was my tired azz.... Just killing the boredom....ATL sucks..... |

The desperate Dooouuuuug shout worked for me! Although his capt did give him a look like WTF, not again. I guess that happens a lot.

yeah.. it does - but he honestly doesn't mind it too much because it helps him put a face to a JC name. however, if he was on the phone - he was probably talking to me, in which case, you could have totally interrupted him and i woulda been laffing my tail off at the "another doug sighting" phenomena ![]() getting the "aren't you like that famous website guy" is a lot more fun for him than the "do you know where baggage claim A is?" last weekend while in Vegas, he ran into an old high school friend that he hadn't seen for a good 15-20 years and this guy pointed him right out...apparently, doug looks the same as he did in HS. |

Poor guy always gets yelled at, in the airport. When I met him he was on the escalator above me and I was shouting DOUG, MAN, I'M NOT CRAZY, LOOK DOWN HERE, CAN I BUY YOU A BEER? I think most people he meets now are shouting at him.

I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Denier up and down the court for 48 minutes! Joey, you like movies about Gladiators? |

"Tell your old man to drag Walton and Denier up and down the court for 48 minutes!" It was Lambier, as in Bill Lambier, of the Detroit Pistons. I remember when that movie came out in the theaters. |

[ QUOTE ] It was probably me. I was in the B concourse between about 11 and 12:30 between flights. Where were you in the concourse? I think I was talking to Kristie enroute to B32. [/ QUOTE ] I was walking into the food court....I was on the phone as well.... Small world.... And let me say now, I have never seen so many DL pilots fight over one Jumpseat to DFW... Looks like that base closure is making for one helluva commute. |

I'm guilty of the "Hey Doug". I ran into him the morning of the New Years shindig and several weeks ago on our way to Albuquerque. We nonrev almost on a weekly basis and we're always on Doug watch when we roll through ATL.

ATL-DFW is one of the busiest jumpseats in the system. Considering, at one time, we rivaled AA's size then shrunk, "sucessfully" downgauged and then got our butts whipped by AA, there are generations of pilots, fa's, and even csr's making the commute.

When I see he an Kristie now it's like aiy yo whad up bra? Like catching up with a really good friends. But it is amazing that I don't see he and Kristie more then what I do considering he only lives 20-25 mins. away from me via the 101! ![]() -Matthew |

I remember when that movie came out in the theaters. [/ QUOTE ] It's spelled Laimbeer. The quote from the the movie is referring to Bill Walton and Bob Lanier (not Laimbeer). Walton & Lanier were big-time players back then. Not Laimbeer. Airplane! the movie was filmed in 1979 and released into theaters in 1980. Laimbeer was the 65th overall pick in the 1979 NBA draft, going to Cleveland in the third round. The Cavaliers were so ambivalent about Laimbeer's skills that they didn't offer him a contract until mid-August. By that time, he had agreed to play for Pinti Inox of Brescia in the Italian League. He starred in his only season in Europe, averaging 21.1 points and 12.5 rebounds. Laimbeer then returned to the United States, put in a solid year for the Cavs in 1980-81, and was traded to Detroit in February 1982 with Kenny Carr for Phil Hubbard, Paul Mokeski and two draft picks. |

Ah yeah. I think you're right about that. That sounds better...Walton and Lanier... Laimbeer would have been too young for the movie. Thinking about that makes me feel really old. I remember Slick Watts and Lew Alcinder (sp?) |

Yeah, you start treating Doug like a star and he gets all giddy and starts blushing! My wife had him blushing for 15 minutes.
