| Old Skool | Classic. I'm actually thinking about working on a PFT page that I just throw up as a link on the monthly threads. I figure if I can get some sponsors, it might pay my rent on web hits alone...... |

[/ QUOTE ] Looking at the quality of some of the newbie posters on that site, I sympathize for you. I can't believe the guy had the nerve to say what he did, even if he did feel it inside. Then his half-baked attempt at an "apology" or "clarification" was pretty sorry. I don't know how one clarifies the dumbo comments he made.....they seemed pretty straight-arrow to me. |

| Read this one from the same guy. This stuff is rich..... Bog, same disclaimer that Doug wrote applies. [ QUOTE ] Problem is, us Newbees don't have the luxory of picking and choosing. We take what is given too us, no questions asked. If someone is willing to pay us to fly, it really doesn't matter what the airplane is, or what the pay is, Its better than having to pay for it out of your own pocket. Yes I understand that we have to be professional. And when I have enough hours under my belt to look over 5 jobs and turn down 4 because they just don't pay enough, then it will be different, but for right now, I'll steal your job if I have to by taking lower pay and working crappy hours. Sorry, but as I'm sure you know, economics, Supply and demand, I can supply a product for a cheaper cost. But don't think that just because I'll work for less, that means I'm a lower grade pilot. I've had all the training the next guy has, maybe more, maybe less, But the bottome line is to provide a safe and efficent flight. And that I can do. [/ QUOTE ] |

[/ QUOTE ] Actually I missed most of that thread due to modem problems at home. Probably a good thing ... I'm moving towards "bitter" again and would have laid into him pretty good. What a retard... gives a bad name to the good MAPDers. |

| Agent Smith | It's not training, it's operational experience. I could train my 16 year old nephew to fly a MD-88 to category-II minimums, sure, but are we on the same skill level because we've been similarly trained? Hell no! |

| From my Navy time, There's a couple sayings... If you ignore a problem, you are a part of the problem... Also, If you see a problem and ignore it, you are condoning the behavior. So I hope we don't start ignoring the PFJ (I like PFJ title better than PFT, we all pay for training... I know I charge for the training I give ) or it'll just take over everywhere and we will no longer have jobs to look forward too, just "Paying for the next Job". |

| Agent Smith | All question have to be addressed. Otherwise, could you imagine how it would be if we selectively ignored certain questions? That'd suck! But I'm going to write a little opinion segment in the next few days about PFT/PFJ that we could at least refer people to. On one side, most of the emotion comes from people who have said time and time again that it doesn't work and helps keep pilot wages depressed. On the other side, you have people who have been able to use freely available money either from parents or previous lucrative employment that are angry when they can't simply buy their way into the profession. But that's just my personal opinion. But we, as pilots, are our own worst enemy. |
